Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Buy I was very pleased with this unit; it was easy to install, works great and was quite reasonable. It's as noisy as a window unit but bearable. I did a lot of research before deciding on this particular unit. I've only used it in a 150 sq ft loft but since it's portable it can be used in different rooms. October 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works very well. Works very well. It brought a large living room into 78 degrees in our last 100+ weather. The dogs were happy. I love that I will just be able to roll it into a closet when this is all over. Note:Buy it on-line, I'd hate to drag it home. July 31, 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great for a small bedroom This product is great for a small bedroom or small living room, the hose is poorly made. If you are looking for something that will cool a larger area, this conditioner is not for you. This machine is also loud. August 22, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good a/c Unit We've had this unit about a month now. After 1 week, the tabs on the adapter to the window kits snapped off. Called the company, they were very nice and spent 1/2 hour on the phone with me trying to figure out why we had the "round" window adapter kit instead of the "oblong" adapter kit. They determined the unit came with the wrong one and sent me the "oblong" kit. Guess what? It doesn't fit the window! Called them back and they're perplexed so I took a picture of the duct taped "round" adapter and the non-fitting "oblong" adapter in our window. Waiting to see what happens with that. Other than that, the unit is pretty good. Wish the levers would move Left to Right, not just Up and Down. If you run it a lot, it doesn't keep it's cool as well as I'd like. Does cool off our bedroom, but mainly if it's blowing on you directly. Fortunately, we don't live in a humid environment so don't have to worry about draining the unit. If they can get the hose design down pat, it would be a better product. If you move the unit to the left and right too much, the hose will come undone from the unit and it's a pain to get back on. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Where's the intake hose? The unit came intact and appears to be functioning as intended. The extension provided to fill the gap when you open your window was not tall enough for my window. Fortunately, the packaging included some flat styrofoam that filled that hole nicely. My main complaint is that it has only one hose between it and the outside air (the exhaust). I specifically bought this particular unit because the online specifications said "Vent hose configuration = Dual" (and there was no picture to contradict that). The air that it pumps out has to be brought in from *somewhere*, so it winds up coming in through all the cracks and defects in the house. In other words, this unit, when functioning as intended, cools one room *at the expense of others*. To be fair, Home Depot offered to take the product back, but I'm finding no 8,000 BTU units out there with dual air hoses, and I have other equipment on that circuit that precludes a larger unit. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by does the job in an awkward space This unit saved our 3rd floor room. We aren't allowed to put window air-conditioners in, but the retro-fitted central air doesn't reach the 3rd floor at all. I researched these 'portable' units online and settled on this one as having the best reviews. It's not really 'portable' in that it weighs about 80 pounds, but it does have rollers and isn't hard to drag into position. It includes a plastic panel that fits into the window to hold the exhaust hose - we had to take it down to the hardware store to have it trimmed. And we also had to put a 2" stick in the window pocket sill to raise the panel high enough that the hose end would snap in, initially it was blocked by the interior sill. The hardest part was getting the ends of the hose securely connected. The little tabs on the piece that fits into the window panel are stiff and hard to snap it. The hose itself is sproingy and you have to sort of rotate it/screw it onto the receptacle. At the air-conditioner end, again you have to sort of screw the receptacle onto the hose end, starting it and turning it just enough to have it stop facing the right direction to slide onto the back of the AC. We have it sitting about 5ft into a 15x20 attic room. The room has low ceilings, but very little insulation between the ceiling and the roof, so it gets hot enough that its dangerous to leave pets in that room in the summer. We set this unit on 76, and it kept the room comfortable even thru a 7-day-over-90 heat wave. If you aren't used to an air conditioner running, you may find it noisy. Since we have 4 box fans keeping the air moving about the 2nd floor, the noise from this single unit on the 3rd floor was not noticeable. A pet jumping at the window knocked the hose off quite easily, as the little plastic tabs are barely secure. But it wasn't hard to re-attach, and we rearranged furniture to block it off a bit more. We were really grateful for the free shipping from Home Depot. The deliveryman brought it right to our door, we just had to heft it up to the 3rd floor ourselves. And now when winter comes, we won't have to wrestle a huge window unit out and into storage. We'll just take the window hose out and roll this little portable over to a corner to wait for next summer. July 21, 2013
