Answer:
The important thing about air conditioners is that they do not make cold. They move heat from inside your home to the outside of it. You need the vent to get the heat out side.

Answer:
All air conditioners need to exhaust hot air to the outside. You might try an evaporative cooler. Also, with these types of air conditioners, the exhaust hose gets hot and that heat then stays in the room. I bought a solid color quilt at the ARC store, cut a piece to size and made a cover for the hose. Works great to insulate the hose and stop it from radiating heat into the room.

Answer:
You won't find one without a vent, it must produce more heat than it removes and the heat has to go somewhere else if the room is to wind up being cooler.

I bought one, online, once that said you didn't have to vent it. It turned out to be one I had to add ice to about every hour - empty the water from the melted ice, and it only kind of cooled a 16 square foot space. It was just a fan blowing over the ice - which I could have done for a lot cheaper with a box fan and a big pan of ice sitting in front of it..... So beware of the ones that say you don't Read More

Answer:
Hi Cynckat,
Portable a/c units are as a whole are less efficient than window or central a/c units. The amount of glass area in a room greatly effects the thermal warming of the room.
Considering the amount of glass you have I think this portable unit would give you less than satisfactory performance.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Tried 2 units, stopped cooling I ordered this unit for my garage and went ahead and installed an exhaust hose and outlet and a drain line through the exterior brick wall. First unit cooled for about a day and then just blew air out the same temperature of the room. Thought I got a dud. Had to box up and take to the local home depot and the return took about 15-20 minutes. I got the second one in and it worked few a few days and then I just put an infrared thermometer on the front and it is blowing air out that is 94 degrees. About to return it and try something else. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Take it camping Works great with a Honda 2000 is portable generator. Just plug it into the generator using a 12 or 10 ga. Extension cord . Shove the units hot air exhaust hose under the wall of the tent venting the hot air outside. Also great for at home because it works well in either a tall casement window, or a conventional double hung window. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT Air Conditioner Bought this to replace a portable 10,000 BTU Air Conditioner. Not only does this cool better, which I attribute to the amazing fan, it's better looking and quieter too. The fan on this thing blows air so well that it manages to cool off both my living room and sun room. In fact, it's so strong, you can feel it on the other side of the room, something I haven't noticed in any other portable AC unit I've ever come across (they're usually really really weak). I love this unit. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Works really wellin in the room. Keeps it nice and cool. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well We have a sun room off the back of the house. Even though we have a central a/c vent in that room it wasn't enough to cool the room with 4 sliding windows and a glass back door letting the sun beat into the room. So we bought this little unit to see if it would do the job of cooling that room. It works extremely well even on the hottest Florida days. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Bought one during the summer and ended up buying another they work fantastic highly recommend August 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not Buy Unless You Are Trying To Cool A Very Small Closet! I am so regretting having purchased this. I have a very small room that I wanted to cool off and this is not able to do that. It will blow cold air on you if you are sitting right in front of it but 1 step out of the direct path of air flow and you are sweating tremendously. This may be okay if you plan on using only in fall or spring when it's not so hot outside but in the heat of summer....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Invest in something else. August 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good enough! As most reviewers observed the unit is loud, but the cooling is efficient from this space saving portable! August 18, 2016
