Answer:
The important thing about air conditioners is that they do not make cold. They move heat from inside your home to the outside of it. You need the vent to get the heat out side.

Answer:
All air conditioners need to exhaust hot air to the outside. You might try an evaporative cooler. Also, with these types of air conditioners, the exhaust hose gets hot and that heat then stays in the room. I bought a solid color quilt at the ARC store, cut a piece to size and made a cover for the hose. Works great to insulate the hose and stop it from radiating heat into the room.

Answer:
You won't find one without a vent, it must produce more heat than it removes and the heat has to go somewhere else if the room is to wind up being cooler.

I bought one, online, once that said you didn't have to vent it. It turned out to be one I had to add ice to about every hour - empty the water from the melted ice, and it only kind of cooled a 16 square foot space. It was just a fan blowing over the ice - which I could have done for a lot cheaper with a box fan and a big pan of ice sitting in front of it..... So beware of the ones that say you don't Read More

Answer:
It is 900 watts, 8 amps, 110v. Even so, I wouldn't feel comfortable using anything less than 2000 watts generation. You should be fine.

Answer:
I believe so. It is only 900 watts (8 amps), 110v. I wouldn't use anything smaller than 2,000 watts, so you should be good. I don't recommend using an inverter, it may wear the inverter out.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Tried 2 units, stopped cooling I ordered this unit for my garage and went ahead and installed an exhaust hose and outlet and a drain line through the exterior brick wall. First unit cooled for about a day and then just blew air out the same temperature of the room. Thought I got a dud. Had to box up and take to the local home depot and the return took about 15-20 minutes. I got the second one in and it worked few a few days and then I just put an infrared thermometer on the front and it is blowing air out that is 94 degrees. About to return it and try something else. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Take it camping Works great with a Honda 2000 is portable generator. Just plug it into the generator using a 12 or 10 ga. Extension cord . Shove the units hot air exhaust hose under the wall of the tent venting the hot air outside. Also great for at home because it works well in either a tall casement window, or a conventional double hung window. June 14, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by cools pretty well Like a lot of customers who bought this model the hose connection was very frustrating and almost takes 2 people to hold each end for attachment. When I moved the unit the hose fell out - a VERY serious flaw in design!! Thought about returning the unit but needed it on 2 consecutive hot days. Not much info on instructions. Make sure the drain plug is closed or you will have water pouring out. If the hose problem continues I will buy a dryer hose vent and use a wire hose clamp. Good AC but very frustrating re-attaching hose. July 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy Works great but needs a little more power to push air forward. July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Portable AC It works well and keeps by 11X 14 bedroom adequately cool. It's kind of a large unit so you need space for it, but I am very happy with the purchase, performance and price for this product. I recommend it. July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cool Value Good profile. Good cooling capacity, Incredible price (I got it on sale) -- lowest price by far of any small units available. Very pleased with quality. Easy to setup. Note: needs a slightly opened window in another room or a home/office that doesn't seal up really well to allow feed air. July 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good portable AC unit Bought this to cool my daughters room down lower than the house temp as she suffers terrible migraines. So far it has worked as expected. It cools, is reasonably quiet and doesn't need draining as often as I thought it would ie: I emptied it once in two weeks and it drained a shot glass full at the most . July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! It's a little too noisy for me but it cools down my room very well and it's easy to put together. July 12, 2016
