Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Buy Unless You Are Trying To Cool A Very Small Closet! I am so regretting having purchased this. I have a very small room that I wanted to cool off and this is not able to do that. It will blow cold air on you if you are sitting right in front of it but 1 step out of the direct path of air flow and you are sweating tremendously. This may be okay if you plan on using only in fall or spring when it's not so hot outside but in the heat of summer....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Invest in something else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So So A/C I can't compare this with any other room or portable A/C, since it's the only one I've every had. However, for what it's worth: The output temp isn't as cold as I'd have expected for an 8000 BTU unit The instructions couldn't possibly have been worse. The writers couldn't possibly have ever seen the unit. Example. The vent hose actually screws into the unit and into the window fixture. You find that out yourself. The vent that exhausts hot air thru the window has no hood so you can count on rain running into the vent hose. Also the grill, which should keep out small pests will stop squirrels but anything smaller slips right through. I bought a 5" vent cover from Amazon which does the trick. Costs $15.00 which I shouldn't have had to spend. Finally, the sliding fitting which adapts the hose to the window has one segment where a lip is on the outside. Perfect rain trap. Makes you wonder if the maker actually looked at what they did. The jury is really still out on performance

Rated 5 out of 5 by from effective cooling This unit has been doing an effective job of cooling the master bedroom, which is actually somewhat larger than the area this air conditioner is designed for. If you are venting out a window with a screen on it, take off the grate that is on the end of the hose or you may have some interference issues. The only quibble with this unit would be a resonant vibration through the side of the unit while running. Not quite as bad as flow-masters on a truck, but definitely there. I solved this by putting some zip-ties around it's waist with a piece of rubber between the zip ties and the side of the unit. I increased tension on the zip ties until the vibration stopped. I don't know if every unit would have this same vibration, and, I didn't feel like returning it to find out, but this solution was easy enough for a tinkerer like me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to connect hoses, Not much output for a big room. The hose connection to the window piece is not easy. For a 200 sq ft room, we had to augment with a floor fan to move the cool air around, but it could not lower the temp much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good basic low cost unit Bought with the purpose of a low cost temporary A/C source in an enclosed patio room here in south Florida that faces to the West and the setting sun. Many reviews critiques the connections; I would say you need to read the instruction and study the connections first. Make the connections from the hose to the window plate out of the window, the slots are tight and challenging, but provide a good connection if done right. As far as the critiques of the hose falling out, I would say they are not being "screwed" on far enough; again, connect the hose to each connectors (window and A/C unit) first and screw them on till they won't go any farther. I have my unit sitting in the corner of the patio and in a couple of minutes, I've opened the window and closed it on the window sliding plate and I'm ready to go. Granted, it's not sealed around the window sliding plate like my other "permanent" portable A/C unit in my bedroom; but I'll accept that since it's purpose is temporary when needed. I've never had the hose disconnect from the units, window or the two connectors they're screwed into. Good basic unit at a low cost.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tried 2 units, stopped cooling I ordered this unit for my garage and went ahead and installed an exhaust hose and outlet and a drain line through the exterior brick wall. First unit cooled for about a day and then just blew air out the same temperature of the room. Thought I got a dud. Had to box up and take to the local home depot and the return took about 15-20 minutes. I got the second one in and it worked few a few days and then I just put an infrared thermometer on the front and it is blowing air out that is 94 degrees. About to return it and try something else.
