Customer Reviews

9,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifier and Remote is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vey Good Unit I first purchased this unit way back in 2004, and I was surprised that they still sell this model.I was contacting the company to see if they sold a replacement exhaust hose, because after 8 years of being exposed to direct sunlight by being close to the window, the outside skin of the hose is starting to crack. However I was able to fix this by wrapping packing tape around it. Well anyway after 8 years of use it is still going strong and I have not had any problems.I feel this is impressive because I live in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles and during the summer temperatures easy reach 114 degrees from time to time, but its always hot and we have to run this unit 21 hrs a day for 3 months. And we use it all year long from time to time, because in L.A. even if its winter it still gets hot sometimes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not meet expectations. Bought this a/c for a 192 sq. ft. storage building, which was well within the BTU rating. Took all night to get the temperature down from 98 degrees to 83. We had it set for 77. The exhaust hose (which was properly vented) seemed to produce so much heat around the hose that the a/c could not keep the temperature down. Still puzzled as to why this size a/c could not cool such a small area. Returned the a/c to Home Depot with no problem. Perhaps it was a lemon. But will not buy another portable a/c based on this experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is a piece of junk. Don't buy it. I bought this to cool down a room that's not even 200 sq feet. The only thing this cools is whatever is directly in front of the fan, and that's it. I have the temperature set to 63 and the fan speed set to high, but the lowest the room temperature has ever reached, according to the unit's thermostat, is 83, when the starting temperature is 88. In addition to this not being able to perform its basic function, the water tank has to be emptied at least three times a day. I've slept better while hugging an ice pack than I have with this thing running.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty quiet and great for a music studio room If you need a quiet but and easy to use unit. Buy this one. I have two.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from it's true; it's a piece of junk I've had this unit for less than a year, and it just broke. It's producing Error Code E4 and keeps shutting down. As other reviewers wrote, I have to empty the water bucket about three times a day on a really hot day -- but closing the door of the room it's in helps. It's also heavy, bulky, and VERY noisy; I can't believe other reviewers said it's quiet. I don't know if I'll be able to get it running again, and this was not a cheap unit. I very much regret this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Air Conditioner This air conditioner, I bought for my workshop. It already has gas heat, but now also has A/C! The dehumidifier feature also comes in handy for dehumidifying the shop so metal tools won't rust due to moisture-laiden air.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs as advertised without any problems. I bought this portable AC unit on the recommendation of one reviewer and his evaluation was good. The unit arrived without damage and ran perfectly right out of the box. It has all the features that are needed and they work well. The only concern that I have is the water tank. I live in south Alabama where the humidity is high in the summer and I'm using the unit in a small outside workshop. During operation, I have to frequently empty the water tank. There is a "finger hole" in the side of the tank to pull it out and I concerned that the plastic will eventually break.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's so cool! This unit is definitely worth the money. It cools down my living room really well. Visitors have commented on how great it works. It's quiet, too. That's a plus. The water bucket fills up pretty fast. And having to empty it 2 or 3 times a day is no big deal. But the instructions do NOT tell you how to fit the exhaust hose and the 3 piece window kit into the window. I just put the hose in one part of the kit and pulled the window down on top of it. Stuck a rag in the space left over. As well, the remote has no light so it's not easy to see the contols. I didn't realize how much power it needs. The only outlet with enough juice to run it without tripping the circuit breaker is in the bathroom. So I've got this 25 foot heavy duty extension cord snaking through my apartment. Still, it is so much cooler I don't mind. I'm just careful not to trip over it. All in all, it's a good deal.
