I especially like having 3 speeds - on low you cannot hear it at all, and it's appearance is not ugly!!

On the record: I bought this air purifier- HEPA Air Purifier with Ion Flow Technology Model # AC-7014G
- right here at Home Depot.com. The model's name is correct. However it's missing the actual Brand Name: SPT, which stands for Sunpentown.
It is important because I looked at their website and was attracted by the fact that max. energy consumption is 57 watts. This, along with a UV-C light bulb/Ionizer, a HEPA filter, a pre-filter and carbon filter, and the price of $ 90 made me click the buy botton, regardless of NOT finding any customer review ANYWHERE.To be honest another feature I like is that although NOT SILENT/QUIET. Neither is unbearable NOISY. My 20" floor fan - a Lesko Cyclone - in low speed muffles out the air purifier at max speed.
Even though the above mention suppossed PROS and the fact that the unit is compact and very light with a back handle space. They dissapeared it quiclky upon turning the unit on with a strange noise like plastic bags and poor air outflow. OOPS my fault? Actually manufacturer's very brief manual guide was not warning of opening the unit and removing 3 plastic bags - one enveloping each filter- if I am sharing this, is to warn you out!
The prefilter is very thin, and totally adhered to the HEPA filter; if it is truly washable I am not sure it will cling back again to the HEPA one.I did notice that the carbon activated filter is actually countless small grains of natural COAL. They are placed in a honeycombed filter and held together with two side plastic layers, they do cover more than 85% of the space. The rest is air
I wasn't happy with that finding but nevertheless I switch it on hoping for ther best. I am NOT the happy trigger -return merchandise customer. I did my best to keep it and ran it two days in a row for longer that 5 hours each.
Not only my conscious objected keeping it. So did my head, for a smell induced migraine developed. Cause: The coal smell the supposedly clean air had! Feel welcome to check this out by sniffing into the upper rear air outlet grill.
That truly became an issue unacceptable at least for me for it defeated the whole purpose of a purifier.Solution: Quick return to my local Home Depot branch. Not unscathed though: I lost entirely the shipping + it's tax for a total close to $ 10.
If that's acceptable to you that is your call! A minor secondary disappointment was to find that only the lateral and rear panel is close to moss green color- actually grayish- the front panel was a flashy light green pastel color. The UV-C light can be seen through the lateral & rear case walls, although the intensity is mild. Also, if you have concerns about the Ionizer function be informed that it shares the OFF/ON switch with the UV-C light. You either have them BOTH OFF, OR BOTH ON. For they are not independent since they share a single switch!
I hope this review helps you out in your decision. I stand gratefull to Home Depot for its easy drop off by return policies and for posting a 1 star review, I wish I could give a ZERO STARS...!!!
