TechniTrend 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifer and Remote is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to put together. Great Features. Works easy and fast. Had a hard time figuring out where to have the water fall into without getting all over the carpet. I Have it elevated and place a large bowl on floor where the water falls into Make sure to check it before it leaks all over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A convenient way to stay cool We've had this A/C for 3 years now and love it. We have a total of 4 units in our home. We use 2 of the units during the summers to cool our large upstairs master bedroom which is very poorly insulated and has a huge window that faces west. We use both units when the temperature outside is in the upper 90's, one in each side of the large 3-paned sliding window. One unit is sufficient for temps in the upper 80's - two are required if the temp is above 90 outside since all that sun shines right into the window and the insulation of the house is poor. We also use foil-covered cardboard to insulate the window. If we didn't have the units running, our bedroom would easily reach 90 degrees -this way it stays in the 70's during the hottest hours of the day. We have a unit in a small upstairs bedroom. Works great. We have another unit downstairs which we use to cool our family room/kitchen area We love that the fan blows the cold air powerfully across both rooms - does a great job. Yesterday it was in the upper 90's outside and those two downstairs rooms stayed at 70 degrees all day. The unit is easy to install into the window. A heavy plastic widow kit is provided with each unit now, but a few years ago when we bought the first two of our units, they came with foam panels instead. We prefer the foam panels for our bedrooms because we can remove them quickly and easily each evening. The sturdy plastic window kit is inserted and screwed together to fit, so it isn't something one would want to have to remove regularly, and that's what we use downstairs. Sunpentown sells the foam panels. The units can be rolled from room to room. They would roll more easily on bare floor than carpeting, but it's not that difficult. We love the features: remote control to change the temperature or turn the unit on/off; a timer to control when we want the unit will shut off automatically; a display showing the temperature of the room; the rotating panel to adjust where the air blows. We don't prefer a unit that blows air straight up. The controls make a loud beep when changing the settings, and that is annoying for our bedroom when someone is already asleep, but that's the only thing we don't like. The automatic shut-off timer does not make a sound when it turns off, thankfully. We use the units in fan mode, also, on days when it's not as hot. They are louder than regular fans, however. We set the timers and have the fans on with the windows open for a few hours at bedtime- they then shut off automatically a couple of hours after we've fallen asleep - we love that! To empty the unit we put a shallow dish #a plastic tray# under the spout in the back and empty the water into the tray and then pour that water into a large bowl. It's no big deal and only takes a couple of minutes. We empty the unit every evening during the summer, and if it's very hot and the unit is running continually all day, we empty it occasionally throughout the day as well- the unit will shut off automatically if the reservoir gets full - but it stores a lot of water. When emptying the water we tip the unit back a bit to get all the water out. Don't forget to replace the stopper and cap - we failed to do that once and had a huge puddle when we ran the unit the next time. After emptying the water out of the unit, we let the fan run for a couple of hours to dry out the unit and prevent any moldy smells. We have found that moldy odors can develop, and when that happens we run the units on fan mode for a few hours on a warm day - helps dry them out. It's important to store the units properly when not in use - we didn't one year and moldy smells developed. By-the-way, we find Sunpentown a good business with nice and helpful folks. It's easy to reach customer service and get advice. This product has been worth every penny to us. P.S. We have purchased a total of 5 units now. One was a huge disappointment, as it had obviously been refurbished and the water pump broke the first week. Returned it to Home Depot. They give you 30 days to return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Product works okay, but required some handywork. This product works well to cool my small apartment. However, it arrived with a broken plastic piece inside it that rattled around when I turned it on. I had to do some tricky maneuvering to get it out before I felt it could be used safely. It works well now.
