Sturdiness-Maximum wind velocity

What is the maximum wind velocity this will stand up under?
Asked by: Deb
We live in a very windy area of Oregon at the mouth of the Columbia river Gorge. Two days after assembly we received 30mph winds with 55mph gusts. The type of wind should be noted due to the fact that as we sit on a bluff, the wind pushes slightly upward. The feet were lag bolted to the deck joists and did not budge. Two roof panels popped out and landed in the front yard. The gazebo tilted and took out a porch light. I am now going to disassemble the top and use automotive windshield adhesive at all seams, attach the outward facing posts to the deck rail and run support from the eve joists to the inward upper aluminum beam. The rain hit this week and the cover leaks like a sieve. Rain is supposed to channel down the rails and out but after being blown around, I doubt if the channels line up any more. Hopefully, sealing the panels will help. It is still the best looking gazebo around but it must be modified to handle heavy wind.

what color are the legs on this item? Charcoal? Nothing in the description. What color is roof exterior?

Actual 13' leg width?

This must fit on an existing deck that is 12' 6" wide. What are the actual outer dimension of the legs, both 10' and 13' sides?
Asked by: Eileen
Leg to leg distance is less than the overall dimensions. Check the instructions for exact dimensions, they are online.

Does this gazebo have transparent roof panels, translucent roof panels, or totally opaque roof panels?

Your description seems to indicate that they are opaque, but on other sites they are described as being tinted but transparent.
Asked by: Homie
Totally opaque. White color on inside, brown on outside.

Customer Reviews

10 ft. x 13 ft. Santa Monica Gazebo is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pavillion Looks Fantastic Pavilion is very nice in appearance and quality. The assembly directions are very clear and easy to follow, used 2 ladders with just the right height and did not need any added help for the assembly. The overall quality was exceptional with the exception of securing each of the roof panels which have a very limited bolt tread contact with almost half of the threads being stripped out with very limited amount of torque. I'm well pleased with how the Pavillion sets in my back yard, but not looking forward to a medium wind stress test on the roof panels. Very concerned they will not withstand a stiff wind. So far 15mph have not been an issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Update my original review and have some advice. I wanted to update my review. I still think this is a great Gazebo, but the only flaw is the roof panel design. The frame of the gazebo is rock solid and I think it would last for years. As another reviewer said, the roof panels system is suspect. It could have been designed another way to make this gazebo perfect. I did add my own fix to the problem. The screws that hold the roof profiles and panels in place can be easily stripped if over torqued. DO NOT OVER TORQUE ROOF PROFILE STRIPS. JUST SNUG TIGHT. This fix will make sense if and when you have this gazebo. I drilled 1/4 inch holes from the inside of the roof framing in addition to the holes already there to add more screws to the roof profile. Remove the screws from inside the roof frame and remove the roof profile from the roof. Drill a 1/4 inch hole through the middle of the frame just like the original holes from the factory anywhere you need additional holding. Now you can put a bolt in the new hole along with the original bolts adding more holding power to each panel. For instance, the horizontal profiles only have two screws in them. I drilled an extra hole in the middle and added my own screw of the same length and thread pitch. Now that piece of roof profile has three screws holding it instead of the original two. The entire length of roof profile will accept a screw so you can place one anywhere it is needed with this method. Like I said, this will make sense when you see it. This I think is the only flaw of this gazebo, but it can be fixed if you are handy. Some on other sites have complained of water leaks, this is due to the roof profiles not being secured firmly due to design. Additional screws would remedy this. Still a great Gazebo, but the additional screws make it better. It actually comes with a few additional screws, but you can find a replacement at a hardware store and if not black you may have to paint them. If you have a roof profile screw that feels stripped or is not holding tight, this will fix it. Just drill another hole close by and add another screw there. If the profile is not tight at a location, add a new screw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gazebo I put this together myself with no help in 12 hours spread out over 3 days. Well packaged and easy instructions. The only challenge would be installing the two long beams to the legs by yourself. I Placed a clamp on one leg and used it as a shelve to place the beam while I attached the other end. Attaching the two long beams is the only issue, the rest is a one person job but help won't hurt. Drill driver with a 6" long hex bit with a ball tip is a must. Final tighten hex bolts by hand. I installed on a concrete patio but I didn't use the supplied anchors, the very first one broke putting it in the concrete. I would recommend buying new 3/8" concrete anchors from HD or the other home improvement store. A good rotary hammer drill goes through concrete like butter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice gazebo - question about panels Took me a couple of days to assemble by myself (I'm 6'6" with crazy long arms so I was able to do this sans help). Very nice appearance and very sturdy. TIP: Buy yourself a set of hex bits that fit into your drill or impact driver. You don't want to do all of this by hand. I want to put some kind of heat source underneath for the winter months. A small gas heater of some sort. Does anyone know what the panels are made of? With the venting in the top there should be room for the hot air to escape, but is there any concern of overheating the panels themselves?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect gazebo This gazebo is awesome. Construction takes longer than the two hours that the directions suggest, but in the end its tremendously sturdy and it makes for an impressive part of our patio project.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks nice, but roof leaks This gazebo looks nice and works well for shade. My disappointment is that it leaks water at the joints during rain. I had chosen the aluminum hard roof so that furniture wouldn't get wet. The design has some horizontal "slats" that screw to the frame. Water flows down the panel, meets the horizontal pieces, gets underneath, and travels to the nearest joint to drip, drip down. The problem is a design defect, not an assembly one. On the positive side, the instructions are good, and most of the tapped holes were functional. I had just a few problems with parts that weren't manufactured correctly. Instructions call for 4 people to help during connection of the posts, but was able to do it with 2 people using 2 ladders to lash the posts for stability. If you aren't worried about rain, this is a nice product. Be sure to have a level surface or you'll encounter trouble.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with Gazebo 1). Follow the directions and you'll do fine. Do put in the pea gravel and anchor to the concrete. Overall do not hurry this project, ie:panels. 2). If you anchor to a cement patio you'll want to consider the slope of that patio ( drains water away from the house). Leveling of the gazebo could be required before final anchoring.
