Answer: 
Thank you for your Inquiry. On the bare wall studs the walls would be attached using the provided clips. The walls have "Snap" together installation. An qudible click lets you know when the walls are properly installed. No caulking required in the seams.

Hello L Taylor, the term "direct to stud" means the product can be installed directly to the framing studs or installed over water-resistant wall material. I have included the installations link below, if you go to page 4, it will explain in greater detail.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wrong unit for typical tub installation. Product was good quality, but from the description and pictures ion line, it is impossible to learn that the recessed soap racks, etc. protrude 5.5" into the wall thus you must have that much space between your tub flange and your studs in order to accommodate this. I had 2.5" so this unit would have overhung the tub by about 3". Had to return this unit. Solution is to state surround depth in description, or better yet, show a top view with dimensions so a person would know how thick this lashup is going to be before you buy it. May 29, 2014
