Model Model # 5960-44S says 44" W, my opening is 44-1/8" will this door work

My opening is 44-1/8" will this model Model # 5960-44S that says up to 44" still work since only 1/8" off?
Asked by: Rick
It may have a very slight gap when both doors are closed, still it should not leak and there is enough metal to make the frame work.

I am looking at Sterling 5960-44s and 5960-46s. My shower opening is 43 -1/2. Which is the correct door? The 46 is $30 less?

Asked by: Lott
Use the 44". the 46 will have wider door reducing the room to get in.

Need to determine correct size for opening?

I have a 44" opening by 65 3/4. The Model #5960-44S is for the 44 " opening.I would like to know the size of each door and how much overlap when closed to prevent leakage or would I be better to get a 46" by 65 3/4 size and would that be able to fit into my opening by cutting the top and bottom tracks to the correct width?
Asked by: MySelf
Measure the top of the shower opening and the bottom about an inch or so up from the base. Buy a door that will fill the upper opening measurement.

Customer Reviews

Deluxe 48 in. x 65-1/2 in. Framed Sliding Shower Door in Silver with Pebbled Glass Texture is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality was better than expected, but harder to install than expected The overall product was made well for the price. I had one issue where on one of the doors the manufacturer failed to create the mounting hole for one of the rollers on the top of the door. I was easily fixed by drilling a hole (though not adjustable like the other holes) so that I could mount the roller wheel. The other thing to note for folks installing this door, is that it took a good bit of filing to get the curve of the shower in the corners. The pieces have to lay flush against the shower or tub surface or you will get leaks. Over all I like the product works perfectly and the door slide nicely.

Good product with clear instructions, worked out well for me as a cheap fix compared to a new tile shower. Only problem I had was with the two bottom inside runner screws that stripped out on installation. They just were too soft to bite, fortunately I had some slightly larger stainless steel screws that worked fine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay but not great. The framing seems to be okay but the door are only hanging by two rollers each. There is no lower track and the inside door is held in place by a piece of metal the hooks under the edge of the lower rail and this is held on by only two short screws. Leveling the doors is very difficult. both doors swing in a small area since no lower guide track and the doors tend to hit each other when opening or closing them. It works but not as good a door as I put on my tub in the other bath a few years ago.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ridiculously small overlap between doors, water spashes out, no resolution after 4 customer service contacts When properly installed in a 44" opening, with both doors closed, there is very little overlap between the doors, allowing water to splash out of the shower. The doors measure 21.3 inches each x 2 = 42.6 inches, 1.4 or so inches shy of 44". Assuming that 1.4 inches is accounted for by: the upright frame space from the wall and little rubber bumpers used to stop the door at each end, call it 3/4" max for each side for a total of 1.5 inches, the doors would have very little or no overlap at 1/10th if an inch. At most the doors overlap 1/8th, so the splashback from the rear wall of the shower comes out. A call to Kohler/Sterling about the doors, resulted in them kindly shipping "the wider doors" for the product. Doors shipped were the same width as the first set. Call back was responded to by offer for them to ship doors for 46" set, at a 50% discount for out of pocket $240. Door was also initially shipped with wrong size interior door guide. That call resulted in them shipping the correct part for that. Doors seem lighter and thinner compared to prior shower door sets I have installed. Poor experience, helpful but ineffective customer service, and a product I would not recommend and a vendor I would not purchase from in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Attractive doors, but several pieces were not cut correctly and had to be replaced by the Attractive doors, but several pieces were not cut correctly and one had to be replaced by the manufacturer. One of the side pieces was not cut out at the bottom to fit over the bottom rail. I had to call the manufacturer and have another one shipped to my house and wait a week for it to get there. So, no shower doors for a week. We had to put up a temporary shower curtain. Also, another bottom piece was not cut out correctly and my husband had to work on it and cut it out some more with tin snips before we could use it. Very frustrating!!!!
