Just had this Sterling Plumbing 6 piece shower enclosure kit installed. It looks good. Had high hopes because Sterling is a Kohler subsidiary and Kohler is an ok manufacturer. The good news is the kit came quickly and complete (nothing missing, broken, etc). Although it was not an easy install the guys I used to get it plumbed and assembled did so in about a week's time. Overall, I am happy with the product but there are two specific areas that disappoint.
First, the glass panel adjacent to the door has about a 1/2 gab in the clear (plastic?) waterproofing that seals around the glass in the frame. The gap is at eye level and it's pretty much the first thing I see when I look at the shower. The issue is mostly cosmetic for now. But there is a sizable gap in the seal --it's easy to imagine that it could develop into a leak.
The second problem is another cosmetic issue that could potentially develop into a bigger problem if leakage should occur. The two Vikrell panels that should snap together for an "elegant and seamless" fit are nearly flush at the bottom and then widen out to form a 1/4 inch gap at the top. It's another missed quality control issue that detracts from the appeal of an otherwise good looking shower enclosure.
I asked my guy Jerry about the seam in the shower panels and the gap in the waterproof seal. He said they'd shoved those panels together as tight and as close as they could. He also said that the glass pane was shipped from the manufacturer like that. He then added, "welcome to reality." And Jerry is sort of right, in the world of retro fit and ad hoc installations nothing works out perfectly.
But when I pay $1300 for a shower kit I expect all these little manufacturing defects to be gone. The shower looks and performs good. But I thought I had paid for it to be great. Maybe I expected too much?

This shower unit looks good and is a definite upgrade from what you'll find in stock in stores. The glass is heavier than I expected and the full length magnet strip is a must have feature

the product is, after lengthy searching, the best available not least because it is answers the unknowable question for DIYers "what about the doors" when replacing a shower.
Sterling seems to have it together on quality and definitely on design. The shower arrived, three packages in a serious wooden crate. None the less the lower outside corners on both wall panels had small cracks that went through the walls. Didn't happen in shipping, packaging was pristine and heavy duty.
Was ready to live with it if it meant another two week wait but HD's customer service rep. got the vendor on the phone Tuesday AM and had two new wall panels scheduled to ship Friday
A confusing email Thursday AM put what I thought was a solution in doubt. Another conversation with HD cust ser rep and his several phone calls later he had good news and better news, the distributor got the panels that day, they had shipped and I got a tracking number.
Home Depot has it together when it comes to customer service though their current telephone survey provider isn't doing them any favors—terrible technology, bad voice recognition and no key pad option to grade outcomes.

The only thing I would change is the shower head. They need to make the head be able to angle down more or make the pipe coming out of the wall longer. When the water is on it shoots toward the glass door.

Not bad looking unit. Just need to make sure you have a perfect situation to put product in
