Customer Questions & Answers

Installing the Vista 31 1/4 x 65 1/2 door - is it required to use the header?

I have multiple rental properties, and I have installed this door in some of them. On each one, the tenants have called me complaining that the header on the shower door is far too low for anyone taller than 5'5". Is the header a requirement, or can I simply remove it. Sterling offers other doors that do not have a header (specifically, the cheaper one sold by home depot). On this door, I like the full length magnet to hold the door tightly shut, but I HATE the header. Can't you either raise the header or eliminate it in a future model?

April - Thanks for your answer. However, a couple of points... does the model # 950c-32s have a magnetic strip the entire length of the door? And also, does the model # 950c-32s work in a 28 1/4" opening?

My shower opening is exactly 42.25 inches wide. Will this door work?

Hi, this is Laura with Sterling Plumbing. I am happy to assist you with your question. This shower door will fit openings 36" to 42"; the tracks will be 1/4" too short. I would suggest using door 1505D-48N which is compatible with openings from 42" to 48" Please work with your local The Home Depot for pricing and availability on this product. Thank you for choosing Sterling.

1. Will this fit a 28" wide opening (opening is from from 28 > to 28 1/4 inch wide)? 2. Can this door be installed to open in rather than out?

Asked by: BocaBob
Yes, this product will fit. It is adjustable for width up to three inches. This product only opens outward.

Vista II 31-1/4 in. x 65-1/2 in. Framed Pivot Shower Door in Nickel with Rain Glass Texture is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice door! Only issue wasn't with the door, we have... Nice door! Only issue wasn't with the door, we have a pre-formed fiberglass shower stall with the front edges curved at the bottom. Some creative adaptation was necessary, but we got it in, and it works very well! Looks so much better that the previous brass slider!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only for persons who are very small in height & width!! I LOVED the look of this door, but had to return it. My shower door opening is 27.5". With the pivot door design and stationary side-panel of glass, the installed width of the opening to get through the door is only 18.5". With the track across the top of the door, the door opening height is only 63.5". Unless you are shorter than 5' 2" and less than 18" wide, you will have to turn sidewise and "duck down" to get through the door opening. Again, I loved the look of the door and the construction seemed very good, but I'm 6' tall and have 20" shoulder width, so the door simply would not work for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shower Door I am very pleased with the look of the new shower door. With the instructions we were able to install it ourselves.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking door miserable installation The door and frame are very nice and our last shower door by Kohler (Sterling) lasted 22 years. The installation was absolutely miserable due to the instructions and the lack of two small sheet metal wrenches that should have been included. You cannot adjust the pivot bolts with standard wrenches as they are too thick to fit between the frame pieces. The installation would have been 15-30 minutes faster by simply adding a few stickers on the parts indicating outside or shower side. Also, a simple exploded view of the installation would have made the installation much quicker. This installation is not for a beginner or novice. The installation took 3 1/2 hours, the next one would take about 45 minutes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would Be Better with All of the Parts The door was not hard to install an looks good but the parts package was incomplete so it won't last since one part holds the door in place. I've tried calling, emailing and going to Home Depot several times. At first they were helpful and at one point I was told that it would take 7 - 10 days to get the parts but after a couple weeks I received nothing and when asked nobody knows anything about it. The last time I went to the store they got several people involved before I was told there's nothing they can do for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Design After installation, the door keeps coming off the track. After re-alignment, it still keeps coming off the track.
