Product Overview

Rot Fix from System Three Resins is an ultra-low viscosity epoxy, wood sealer, hardener and primer. It is specially formulated for fast, deep penetration into wood fiber, helping to restore body and structure to wood damaged by rot and severe weathering. RotFix creates a solid foundation for paint or other restoration products such as System Three SculpWood Putty and Paste. It is unique in that it is made from 100% epoxy solids and contains no solvents, water or VOCs’. Products containing these solvents are often very low in actual resin solids. They are significantly affected by humidity and shrink as they dry leaving little material in the wood to do the job. RotFix, on the other hand, cures entirely by chemical reaction with nothing is lost to evaporation. This means no shrinking, and all of what you put into the wood remains, making RotFix far more cost effective with superior results. Additionally no solvents means RotFix has virtually unlimited shelf life. The 24 oz. kit of RotFix contains 16 oz. of epoxy resin, 8 oz. of epoxy hardener and a convenient measuring bottle. It is mixed at a ratio of 2 parts resin to one part hardener. Simply pour the desired amount of resin into the measuring bottle. A guide, printed on the side of the bottle will show you exactly how much hardener to add. Shake the bottle to mix then apply to the wood surface. Reapply until no more is absorbed. At room temperature RotFix will cure in about 6-12 hours. Can applied heat to speed up process.

Since is absorbs into wood I would think that it would work well for making Linen Micarta. Assuming it dries clear and once dry is rock hard, permanent, stable, waterproof, heat resistant, etc...

Anyone use it for Micarta?

I want to apply this to the softer wood on a burl bowl, then coat the whole project with Tung Oil Varnish. Would Rotfix make the treated area look different than the other areas?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well I had a pressure treated wood post that was invaded by termites. After they were treated and the loose particles cleaned out this product was applied. It flows easily into the post filling the gaps and soaking it. After an overnite drying the post was ready for the epoxy wood filler. August 10, 2016
