I don't have a saloon bar or even a breakfast bar but I thought this chair would be perfect for the girl that cuts my hair in my home. The ad looked great but I didn't expect too much at this low price point for an overseas product. WOW, was I surprised.
When it arrived the gas piston must have extended during shipping and was poking through the box. Fortunately it was not damaged. The unit ships in four major components plus a box of screws and two Allen wrenches. There's also a small, very course, "scrubby pad" that's not mentioned in any of the literature. I can only assume it's there to freshen up the brushed stainless effect. Like all my brushed stainless appliances, etc., this finish is a fingerprint magnet. To keep it looking nice I cleaned it and applied a coat of Carnauba car wax.
Assembly couldn't be simpler, just seven Allen head screws. There is an instruction sheet but its been replicated so many times mine was just about unreadable. Not a problem, assembly is totally intuitive. The sheet states, " This item may require periodic tightening." To eliminate the need for this, during assembly, I applied blue Loc-Tite to the threads. The welded seams are deep and nicely finished. The leather weave is thick, polished and very comfortable. The seat height is adjustable from about 22 ins. to about 32 ins. and adjusts smoothly. The base plate is very heavy for stability. The underside is trimmed in a felt-like material with four nylon glides to protect the floor.
Safavieh warranty's this product for only 60 days and for initial defects only. They say, "Visible damages not noted upon delivery will be determined to be customer damage and will not be warranted." Be sure to note any visible damage with the carrier. Hopefully Home Depot will be more understanding in the event of concealed damage. I'm deducting one star for this very poor warranty.

Very nice bar stool. I picked this stool up because I cut all my nephews hair, my dad, and my uncles hair. I am by no means a professional barber but its like a pass time for us. Everyone stops by to talk and get their hair cut. Anyway I got the chair because It looked like it would be perfect for me to use as a barber chair. Adjustable height, no arms to get in the way, and it swivels, and also the seat is leather with stainless steel base which makes it easy to clean. It works perfectly for my purpose. My wife also loves it. She wanted to confiscate it to use for her vanity.
I am not exaggerating when I say you can not ask for a better or more robust build at its price point. The stool is built very well and built to last. The description says 29.5" to 38.5", but that is from the top of the backrest. The actual seated height adjustment is about 22" to 32". The base of the stool is wide and quite heavy for very adequate stability even on carpet. The strut that raises and lowers the chair is very strong. Now I am no leather craftsman, but the leather on the seat seems to be of very good quality. Oh and lets not forget that the stool just looks good. I am using it as a barber chair, but the style of the stool would work in many styles of decor. Whether its a contemporary, transitional, traditional, or an eclectic style rooms.
The stool arrives in 4 components. The base, the gas strut, seat post with footrest, and the seat itself. The directions are not the greatest but it is very easy to assemble. Should only take you 5-10 minutes and comes with an Allen wrench which is the only tool you need to assemble it. Start by attaching the strut to the base with the 3 large screws. Then attach the footrest piece to the bottom of the seat with the 4 small screws. Then place the seat post over the strut. Sit on it as the weight helps to secure it and you are done.
