Answer:
Yes it is hard plastic. You may want to buy an inflatable donut or temporary padding to cover the toilet seat. The strain is gone when getting up. That will help will the tenderness. I hope this helps you

Answer:
You remove the toilet seat and attach this one the same way. It has a small latch to attach it securely....although it does not secure it tightly it does stay in place because of the inner lip.

I think it depends on where you live. I found that by shipping to the nearest store, it was free. My husband works in that area so it was just better all around for pick up.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Elevated elongated toilet seat Great product, however, had to remove the seat and lid to place this unit directly on the porcelain. There is no way to cover the opening. Problems with cleaning the commode as well as the seat because it is impossible to move out of the way (both good for the safety aspect but bad for ease of cleaning). Wish there was a better way! Price was outrageous until I found it on clearance for 11.98! Needed seat elevation to aide in knee surgery recovery. June 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Definitely worth the money Dad is 92 and he was having no luck getting up by himself from the toilet. This caused us a lot of sleepless nights since he lives with us. We bought the elevated toilet seat, and he has not needed help since. This was well worth the money. Very sturdy and does not move around like some of the cheaper ones. April 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by serves the purpose very well for my patients in my office i like everything about it except it seems to slide some...i had a handy man install. very easy to clean and can be taken off to throughly clean...my patients that have knee issues especially like it. the restroom's commode was originally very low..problem solved now. May 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product reduces strain on my knees, which is great Because I have no cartilage in my knees, the toilet seat elevates the pain of getting up. I don't have to equip my bathroom with helping bars to get up. My mother does't strain anymore using the toilet in my bathroom now. She's a happy camper. February 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great deal.... As I purchased it on the deal of the day. It's very tall which works for me at 5'10, but would be to tall for a smaller person. It doesn't attach to the toilet as secure as I feel it should but it does stay on. July 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good Easy to install and nice to know that the seat can be removed simply by unlocking to return to original look.Wish however, that the product offered different height sizes rather than the one 5" for owner to opt to lower heights for same quick change. Now looking on-line for this same make. November 25, 2011
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great Concept, Horrible Implementation The seat just flops around the toilet. There is a nice latching system that doesn't work. The latch ends up slipping out of itself. July 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect solution! Easy to install and clips off immediately for cleaning. Makes it easy to get up and down off a lower styled toilet base. August 6, 2013
