Customer Reviews

9000 Series 78 in. H x 24 in. D Standard Storage Cabinet Unassembled in Gray is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Somebody screwed up Was excited to get this locker based on all my research. Had to order unassembled and do myself because of location it had to be built in place. I opened the package and got the directions out and read before starting assembly. Sounded like a no brainer, logical sequence of events one should be able to figure out no problem. When I went out to start the assembly what I had read didn't seem to agree with what I was seeing. So I went back and got the directions and sure enough, the title was for the locker I purchased but the very first thing on how to assemble was different. No problem, figured that out and proceeded. Long story short, these directions are not to this locker and became very frustrating. It's like they changed the locker design but kept the old instructions. I'll cover just the bigger issues here. 1. The top flange oval holes don't align with the side panel oval holes and require drilling out. 2. The directions say to bolt on the bottom but there are no holes drilled in either the bottom or the sides or back. One would have to measure where the front lip is supposed to rest and strike a level line all around and drill themselves. I was so angry I just left the bottom off, for now. 3. The door assembly says to install the handle on the right door. It goes on the left door and the mechanism attached to the handle to operate the lock bars doesn't agree with the picture and is totally different leaving it to you to figure out the complex method it requires to make the installation work. 4. This is on a garage floor with some perimeter boards laid down for protection. Floor appears quite level but the locker is racked for some reason and so the bottom of the right door scrapes the bottom. There is no such thing as a perfectly level surface and I figured after I loaded it the locker would settle out. Nope. This process evoked many four letter words and my wife was tired of hearing it. I've assembled many, many racks, shelves, toys etc. having had children and a teacher for a wife. This is THE WORST I have EVER assembled. I would sincerely like to see the company assemble this locker with their own directions, which is an option. They apparently don't read their own directions. How can this come out with holes not aligning? There is only one way it can go together but, how would I know, it's the wrong directions. I cannot express how dissatisfied I am with this American made product. Even if the directions were written by a foreigner, you know what I mean, it would have been better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excellent value; poor quality control These metal cabinets are by far the best value you would find for the money on the market. However, when it comes to quality control, its a totally different story. I ordered four of these metal cabinets for my garage, three standard ones and one combination type. These are the issues I ran into during putting together these cabinets: * The instruction manual is outdated. The actual pieces to not match with what is shown in the pictures. I had to guess and improvise how the pieces go together. * The metal screws and nuts provided are absolutely useless. There is no way to grip the screw while putting on the nut from the other side. There are some grooves provided on the screw, but no use on the smooth metal surface. The screws simply rotate. I had to get new screws and nuts from Home Depot. * I could not align the holes of the top sheet and the back sheet, on all four of the cabinets. I had to leave all those holes unscrewed. * Three of the four cabinets were scratched (quite visibly) on the front near the top edge in the same spot. Can this really be a coincidence? The fourth had scratches elsewhere on the front side. * The doors did not align well on one of the cabinets. I initially thought there was a defect and called customer service for help. Eventually, I realized that the floor underneath was uneven, and twisting the metal frame around the doors to cause the issue. The surrounding frame ought to be stronger. * It took me a while to figure out how to assemble the lock system, because the one in the assembly manual is completely different. On two of the cabinets, the metal rods running up and down from the lock were twisted, causing the lock to scratch against the edge. Poor quality control, again. If I could go back in time and do this again, I would pay extra and order the assembled pieces. The amount of anguish I had to go through to put this thing together just wasn't worth it. At the same time, I have developed a preference for raised cabinets with adjustable legs. The weight of the cabinet is borne by the vertical metal sheets that extend to the ground. The sheets on the sides and back are pretty thin (a reason to consider the heavier gauge version of these cabinets) and this arrangement doesn't look very stable long term. Hope this helps.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bring your own instructions and fasteners My experience with this product is similar to others. I purchased 2. One was bent all to heck and made assembly very difficult. The directions have absolutely nothing to do with assembling what's actually in the box. You have to figure it out for yourself. One of mine was missing 50% of the fasteners. Had to purchase my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made cabinet Wanted one place to keep all my tools and supplies. This arrived ship-to-store in good condition. Assembled fairly easily with my 12-year-old daughter. Instructions are clear, although the construction has changed slightly, so some thinking was needed. Also, since there would only be two inches of clearance from the top of the cabinet to my basement ceiling, we assembled it standing up. The steel is a nice heavy gauge. The 24 inch depth swallowed up my miter saw sideways, leaving more than half the rest of the shelf available. Doors close and latch smoothly and lock appears secure. I have some supermagnets which I am using to mount a few go-to tools on the side of the cabinet. Happy with this product and have no reservations about recommending this commercial-quality cabinet.
