Do I need to put the post in cement or can I just drive the post into the ground? No installation instructions were included with the product.

Answer:
It depends on the height you want the mail box at. I added an extension with a post holder so it went into the ground 3 feet and filled the hole with dry readycreet. It's not going anywhere!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice post Works well with the mail box it's designed to support. June 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product My only complaint are the screws provided with the pedestal. They have Philip heads rather than hexagon heads which would have made ratcheting the screws easy in the confined space of the mailbox. June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A very good purchase! In a semi-rural environment, this post may be a little short. Reason: digging the post hole deep enough to have sufficient anchorage, yet still adhere to U.S. Postal requirements for mailbox height was a bit of a challenge in softer soil. Also pays to run a threading tap (or oil the bolts and use them)through the holes prior to mounting the mailbox, for ease of installation. Once installed, this unit is very good looking and perfectly matches the security mailbox. April 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Strong and Attractive I am perfectly happy with this post. I bought it together with the mailbox, and it matches perfectly. The quality is good, and it was made in USA, which was something I was definitely looking for. My neighbor installed it for me, and he's a pro, so I can't say whether it was easy or not, but he didn't complain. He did need to cut it to the correct height because we were able to utilize the bracket from the previous mailbox post, which was already cemented in. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it seemed a bit expensive compared to the mailbox, which is a much more complex item. They kind of had me though, if I wanted them to match. And if I look at the price of the two items together, it compares favorably to other options out there. I looked at a lot of different mailboxes before choosing the one that goes with this post.
