Answer:
Yes. It comes with a standard 3 wire plug. I snipped mine off and hardwired it. Most overhead cabinets should have an outlet box for plugging in your microwave.

Answer:
It's not painted, it's stainless steel. The handle is the most sturdy part on this microwave, The stainless you see when facing the microwave I can tell you is VERY THIN. It will show the slightest dent, so just dont touch that part.

The handle on the SMH1816S is aluminum which, though not real stainless steel, has a premium appearance that does more closely resemble stainless.

Answer:
You need something to anchor the top of the microwave to. So I am going to say NO. When installing on a wall, you first mount a bracket horizontally. The lower back edge of the microwave rests in this. The top is bolted through floor of the cabinet over it. You could get creative with some stainless steel cable and strap it to the wall or ceiling, thus negating the need for an overhead cabinet.

Answer:
Thanks for the question. The SMH1816S needs a surface above it in order to support the weight of the microwave. The wall bracket behind it supports some weight, but the top-mounting brackets are a critical part of the installation.

Yes, I noticed that. I can confirm that it is on 1,100, which I find to be more than enough and in line with what most cooking instructions expect. 1,700 would be for a commercial microwave at a convenience store or something.

1.8 cu. ft. Over the Range Microwave in Stainless Steel with Sensor Cooking-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 119.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Keeps Breaking This product is not quality and we're very disappointed with it. We've had it for 2 1/2 years and it is constantly breaking. First the touchpad went out and it was unusable. My husband read a bunch of blogs online from people who had the same issue. He tried things until it finally started working again. Today - i opened the door and a spring broke, now the door won't stay latched. Again, online a bunch of people are complaining about the same exact issue. We're waiting day to day for the next thing to go wrong. Personally - i think a nice appliance like this should last more than 2 1/2 years. Unfortunately, we're about to go out and buy a new one - different brand - more reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value When looking for an above the range microwave, I wanted it to have a good venting system, a light, and a good heating element. This one has all 3 in a sleek package. I mainly use the microwave for defrosting and reheating food. This microwave somehow manages to heat my food without making my dishware lava hot! I think it is a great value and looks great too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from great while it lasted This microwave was wonderful during the warranty period, but just as the other reviewers have mentioned, the SE error began for us and now that beautiful microwave just sits there unplugged because when it is plugged in it randomly beeps without stopping. It isn't even useful as a clock. We are already in the market for a new microwave and I will definitely not be looking for another Samsung.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Microwave I really like this microwave. I didn't really need a new one, but switched my stove from white electric to stainless gas. So I wanted to get a stainless microwave. It has all the features you would want. It has a turntable, a shelf, and shortcut buttons for common things, like popcorn, reheating, add 30 seconds. The light has three modes, off, low, and high. I like keeping it on low when I am not cooking. It acts as a nightlight for the kitchen. The fan for the vent hood is really good too. My old microwave blew the filtered exhaust right back in your face. This one blows it up and away. And it has several speed settings. But the best thing about the fan is that it has a timed delay shutoff. That is perfect because you can use it while cooking, and then set the delay shutoff when you go eat to clear the remaining smoke, smells, etc. out of the kitchen while you are eating. The next model up has the controls at the bottom so that it can be wider. I'm not sure that is worth it. This one is more than wide enough. So save a few dollars and stick with this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of features This microwave has lots of features available. Although the reheat settings do not necessarily work efficiently and take too much time. There are numerous other features which I have yet to use. The popcorn setting does not work well. I like the shelf feature which allows me to cook more than one item at a time. Keeping the microwave clean is somewhat difficult. Stainless steel cleaner needs to be used on the exterior and although we have been extremely careful cleaning the keypad, there are scratches already visible. But overall, it is a remarkable microwave for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Microwave; Tons of Features This microwave is very large inside and yet is not so tall that it dips below my cabinet line over my stove. There are a ton of cooking options and it's very easy to cook at reduced power...very user friendly. There's even a melt butter option which is awesome when you bake a lot. A great value and it looks great, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value for Money We recently purchased this microwave from Home Depot. We were updating our rental property to get it ready to sell. We loved the stainless steel design, and it fits in perfectly with our other appliances. It was so quick and easy to install, and it works great! The dimensions were perfect for our over the range space. We are so happy with this product. It made our kitchen look a lot more updated and installation was a simple process. I would recommend this microwave to anyone!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't last long We bought this in a package with the refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher July 2012. Now the warranty expired and guess what? It quit working. It appears to work but does not heat anything. After 7 minutes a potato was still hard as before. I was great while it worked. We are very disappointed that it didn't last long.
