Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by SG Gallon of Milk will not fit on shelf unless you remove a shelf. Poor design. Disappointed.
Before you purchase this fridge please make sure you do NOT want to store a gallon of milk, soda bottle, brita pitcher on the shelf. If you would like to you will need to remove one shelf. It is very disappointing. This is something that you will not think about in the showroom. This fridge is made for someone to store these items on the door.
Also, the ice and water dispenser is not backlit so it is VERY hard to see what button to push when you are selecting your option.
Lastly, the fridge is lit from the back. If you have a lot of food in your fridge it is very dark. Again, things you would not know in the showroom. We tried to return the fridge because we were truly disappointed but do not think that is possible after you take delivery. We are stuck with it. No complaints with the freezer.

My sole gripe with this product is with quality and damage issues. 1st unit received had a malfunctioning water dispenser upon receipt. It was accepted as a loaner due to the failure of my old refrigerator. Additional problems became apparent as the freezer cooled: freezer fan did not work (cold at bottom, warm at top), ice maker did not work, freezer light worked intermittently, freezer controller malfunctioned (read 54F but entire compartment was near or below freezing), and door alarm would not shut up. No local replacement, US facility shipped a replacement arriving 4 days later. This unit was refused - damaged door. A 3rd unit was shipped, arriving 7 days later. This unit was functional but dented on both doors - accepted as a temporary. Samsung US facility was not authorized to send me another replacement - must get corporate approval. After 10 days of no response from corporate and my repeated follow-up the US facility agreed to repair the unit. Still waiting on the repair due to part shipments and repair shop schedule. The 3rd unit does perform as expected but I cannot recommend Samsung due to the problems and delays.

I have this refrigerator now 2 years old. We already had to replace one of the compressors in the "twin cooling systems" not covered under warranty. Samsung customer service very poor and Samsung authorized repair service slow to complete repairs. The drawers are constructed poorly and fronts are all breaking off now in the second year. The ice compartment inside the freezer is almost impossible to reinsert when you remove it to empty ice. Overall just a poorly performing appliance.

Bought this unit 24 months ago and ice maker quits! My last unit was Kenmore/Whirlpool and ice maker lasted 7 years, fridge lasted 10.
I would think the quality of products would get better but not SAMSUNG!!!!

We purchased lower priced Samsung unit (RS25J500) that was damaged when delivered. After a few days we discovered why the unit was so poorly rated and with the help of HD appliance dept. we were able to upgrade to this unit.
The number of door shelves are adequate, the 3 refrig. bins are nice and the lighting is far superior to the other unit. The door ice maker saves a lot of room in the freezer. Temp. controls are very easy to use and the light on the water dispenser is useful.

After checking with other online retailers, consumer reports, in store models and from our personal experiences with several brands; we chose this model as the best, for the price, for us. I was apprehensive about it fitting and how it might look (didn't want the new coating that is gray and not stainless steel). I am very pleased with our purchase, the fit and all the amenities. After reading a lot of reviews I wondered if there were any good refrigerators out there as it seemed there were negative comments about everyone. There is some noise but nothing extraordinary, the ice and water dispenser works well and we have had plenty of ice. We decided to go with the side-by-side over the French doors with bottom freezer because we didn't have enough space to easily get into a bottom freezer and the side-by-side seemed to give a bigger quantity of ice per day. It was also less expensive than the popular bottom freezer types. Very pleased with purchase.
