The electrician and I both think if the oven is electric it will need something other than 120v and a 20 amp breaker.
Asked by: Flip

It's 2 1/2 years old and it has started to rust in the base of the oven in several spots. Samsung will not do anything about it. Samsung says that it's cosmetic. Corrosion in the oven is several spots in a range that is under 3 years old is crazy. It's not cosmetic it's made with the wrong material for this to happen. I've had other ranges that lasted 10 years and never corroded in the inside of the oven. I've never heard of such a thing. So, I will never buy another Samsung product.

A 5 burner stove is a wise investment and a valuable tool for the everyday "home chef". The burner sizes on this stove vary for different uses. The front burners are bigger for the regular uses such as cooking in a hurry. There are two sizes smaller on the back burners; a medium and a small size. These are great for simmering a sauce or cooking a small pot of tea while using the front burner to do the heavy work. The bigger middle burner ups your talents in cooking like a professional chef, and is fantastic for using the grill that is included with the purchase. Pancakes, grilled veggies, and bacon are cooked easily, EVENLY, and quickly when using on the grill on the middle burner. The oversized grill has oval shaped heating rings underneath the grill for even heating of the grill. The non-stick coating on the grill makes for easy, quick clean-up. When not using the grill, the oval shaped middle burner is also great for heating BIG pots of meals. I have enjoyed boiling chicken, before barbequing on the grill, with ONE big pot on the middle grill instead of multiple smaller pots on the four corner burners. While an instruction manual is included for using the stove and oven, its not really needed as the controls are straight forward and well thought out. Oven cooking selection buttons are placed for different types of styles on the control panel. Timer and heating selections are well placed for ease of planning your next dinner, lunch, or breakfast.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice to look at...works great. But..... I have been wanting a 5 burner stove for a long time. Finally, the price came down and I got one! The stove I replaced was a Kenmore that was 14 years old. The new stove's metal is SO MUCH THINNER than the old model! It pushes down when you clean the top! When it was delivered, the front bottom corner was dented. This, in turn, made the storage drawer unable to be straightened..and is very crooked. I'm sure with a little man-strength it will be able to be popped back out. I do think the operation is great. The oven is very large and preheats in a 1/4 of the time the old stove did..but the general construction material is poor. You get what you pay for.

The reason I noticed this model was the griddle burner. After using it a number of times I can say it works really well. The griddle that comes with the stove is not as big as an electric griddle - I can do 3 pieces of French toast or 3 pancakes instead of 6. The griddle is nonstick, sturdy and stores in the drawer below the oven. To me it is more convenient and less to store than an electric griddle. The range burner controls allow you to adjust the flame easily and accurately. My last stove was either full blast on or off. It is so nice not to worry about burning anymore. I do like that the entire top is covered by the grate. For cleaning, the grates (3 of them) go into the sink and the stove top is totally exposed making it easier to clean. The oven performs as well as a oven can. I haven't checked the actual temps but my baking comes out as expected. It heats up fast so when you preheat you should have things mostly ready to go in. It is not convection. I have not had to clean it yet so I can't comment on the auto-clean feature but if it is as good as the rest of the range/oven I 'm sure it will clean just fine. I do wish I could control the volume of the timer/temp reached alerts. It's pretty loud. Reasons I chose this appliance were the griddle burner, rated highly by Consumer reports and the price. After purchasing and using for 6 weeks I'm very satisfied with the overall quality of all features of this range/oven. At a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy! Clean and stylish for any modern kitchen- Stove top is easy to clean (do not use abraisive sponges), oven lights up brightly and roomy storage under. Be aware, the oven will smell for the first few uses due to excess plastic and other holding products. Use lots of ventilation for the first few uses. Griddle takes a while to cook food (Grilled cheese), yet, stove top boils water fast. Check the manual to determine which plate is best for what meals. Chicken Nugget and Pizza mode, which I'll probably never use, is a fun feature to have if you have kids. Delivery and installation was fast, they were in and out in 20 minutes and took away my old range.

This review is for the Samsung 5500 in White, purchased late 2016 from Home Depot online. Delivery took about 1 month from order (White was special order, stainless was available in the store) On arrival, the box showed no damage, so I accepted shipment, and offloaded from the truck directly into my pickup. I offloaded at my house (rural) and did the propane conversion myself before I brought it inside. The conversion instructions were OK, but a couple of Youtube videos on propane range conversion gave me a lot more confidence. I was comparing it to our 4 year old Maytag Gemini double oven construction while I was doing the gas conversion. The samsung is considerably lighter weight, but is built to higher standards. Screws and hardware are better quality, parts fit together better and do not "rack" when trying to re-assemble. When I would remove screws from the Maytag, it is obvious that they are of low quality, and it is difficult to reassemble correctly, holes not lining up, screws stripping, etc. Burners are of better quality, being quality machined castings, the maytag burners were sandblasted castings. One of the reasons I wanted the Samsung is the ability to use the stovetop burners during power outage. I understand the oven will not function without power, but the Maytag has an additional nanny feature that shuts off the top burners also! The keypad does require deliberate touch to function, but nothing extraordinary. The heat from the oven vent is warm, but not enough to cause a burn, and the touch pad does not get hot. I don't know how they did that, but they did. The Samsung oven temp is spot on, measured with a good oven thermometer, very pleased with that, considering some reviews. While the oven preheats pretty fast, it takes a few extra minutes for the temp to stabilize. Once it stabilizes, it stays very consistant. The oven racks are good, built slightly stouter than many we looked at. If you pull them straight, they slide smoothly. Oven light is good. The stovetop grill however, is a different story. The gaps in the grill are too large, small pots will demand careful placing on the crossbar (see picture) The smallest simmer burner was hotter than we wanted, so I adjusted it with a small screwdriver (see picture). This is simple to do, but not recommended if you are not sure what you are doing. Overall, I am pleased, the price of 548. delivered is a bargain compared to anything we saw in comparison.

The high power gas burners do heat everything a lot faster than our old stove, no doubt. And the pre-heat is FAST! We have ONLY ONE complaint. HERE IS MY ONLY COMPLAINT. The stove needs to come with or have as accessories drip trays for under the burners. YOU MUST BE diligent in cleaning all spills ASAP. I am in the process of trying to find after market drip trays that will fit the oversized burner islands. So far we have not needed them, but that is only a matter of time. This is nice stove, and worth the money. The delivery guys were very attentive and personable. However, they were in too big of a hurry. The stove was installed off center. I have to flag them down in the road to come in and help center the stove. At the time I did not realize the stove have a cleat in the back so it does not tip and therefore it would not move. They did adjust that. Less than a couple of minutes. They neglected to level the stove. I did that without a problem. Other than those couple of things all went very well, thank the Lord.

It looks nice, the range gives off good heat, and the oven heats up very quickly. A couple of things I dislike about the oven in the two weeks I've had this stove - the oven puts out a lot of heat off the top and it seems to be consistently about 25 degrees under the temperature it is set to. I purchased an oven thermometer to track this when I felt like things were cooking way too slowly. I'm hoping I can reset the thermometer, but until I figure that out I'm just setting the oven 25 degrees higher than I need it and it works very well.
