Customer Questions & Answers

Clearance to wall

How much space do I need between the back of the oven and the wall it is placed against? My husband is installing the electric outlet box which has a 1-2 inch clearance behind the stove and saying it need to be up high to keep the stove from pushing back against the wall. I though the bumpers behind the oven provided all the necessary clearance. Thanks!
Asked by: Rebecca
Have your husband create a "niche" in the wall allowing the gas connection and electric outlet to be recessed in the wall. Range will be able to be flush against the wall.

The range works well, but it arrived with a defective part (sliding oven shelf). I placed a call to Home Depot who referred me to Samsung, who referred me to Tekniton for repair. Samsung said Tekniton would call to set up an appointment. Three days later and I'm still waiting for a call back. I tried to call Tekniton, but gave up after being on hold for 25 minutes. It's 3+ weeks after delivery, and I have a range with a defective sliding shelf.

The good reviews were a factor in deciding on this stove, but we are disappointed. The cook top is high maintenance. Getting it clean, shiny and streak free is almost impossible. Maybe that's the case with black cook tops; this is our first so can't compare. The burners stain, and never come clean. Very disappointing. We do like the heavy continuous grates. We purchased this model instead of a similar Samsung that was a couple hundred less because of the warming drawer, and the easy glide rack, which is great, especially if you have a bad back. Thought it would be great to have a center burner, but on a 30" stove you really can't use all 5 at once anyway, and the griddle takes a long time to heat up. The front burners are both too hot for simmering, so always have to move to the back burners. Glad we bought the maintenance agreement, because the oven seems to be off by at least 10 degrees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features I looked a long time before I purchased my new stove. I wanted a 5-burner stove & convection. I just got it about a week ago & so far I love this oven. I bake a lot from scratch & having a good oven is vitally important to me. I love the fact that this has the huge oven & it came with the griddle & the wok grate! That was an extra added bonus. The slide out rack is wonderful & very sturdy. The warming drawer will most likely come in handy also. The only thing I wish this would have come in white. All my appliances are white & I am not going to change the others. I actually hate silver. So, I really liked the features on this oven & it's quality compared to other brands I looked at to purchase it.

It was installed in November 2016. The first time the oven went out was December 30 (while I was preparing a company meal, of course). It was reported and the service call was not made until January 9, 2017. Igniter connection adjusted, it worked again. Stopped lighting again March 8, this time service call was March 10. Technician replace main PCB (circuit board). March 20, out again. Service call March 22, main PCB board replaced again. March 27, oven does not light again. Called local service, they said I have to call Samsung since the ticket is closed (repair made). Called Samsung, they told me they have to call the local service company to confirm it was not repairable and someone would call me about next step. Called Samsung again March 29 because I had not received a call. She committed to "bump" my problem up to Executive Relations Dept. for Samsung and they would call me either Friday, March 3l or Monday April 3. She called back Sunday Apr. 2 to say we needed to FAX them a bill of sale and include a ticket number which they assigned and our contact information. Once they have this, within 72 hours they will contact the local Authorized Service Center to confirm that the stove is unrepairable. Samsung will then tell us the next step. At this point I will have been without an oven almost 3 weeks with no replacement in sight. I cook and use my oven daily so this is very problematic for me. I remember when Samsung was a well respected manufacturer but this has been the most convoluted process I could ever imagine. Their customer service is awful. They are very courteous but it doesn't make up for the slowness of their responses. Do not buy this stove, and I would say don't buy from Samsung unless you are beyond patient when you need service!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent range, good price First, I want readers to know that I am a retired professional chef. In my carreer I powned a cooking school for home chefs that had 15 high end ranges for home use. I consulted with major manufacturers on the design and performance of the high end appliances for home use as well..the ones that cost between $6-$15,000 each. I purchased this Samsung range for a small mountain home. I've owned this range for a month and am loving it for the price. It has all the features of the more expensive ranges but it only has two higher heat burners and it costs a fraction of the price. I would prefer all the burners to be 18,000 btu's. There is NO need whatsoever for simmer burners. I loved Dacor ranges as they included a simmer plate, a heavy duty cast plate that was placed over any high heat burner that when set on low would keep chocolate warm and not burn it. I have simmered a stock successfully on this new range. The American public is obsessed with simmer burners because marketing has told us to be. Those low heat or simmer burners on this range are totally worthless to me and anyone wishing to do cook. I also would have liked the oval burner in the center to have high BTU's. There are many large saute pans that would be perfectly placed on that center burner but only if there was 18,000 BTU available. The more important feature of a range is the high BTU output NOT simmer burners. I have this model, the black top which is much easier to clean that the ext model up, the stainless topped one. I wish companies would abandon the stainless altogether and go back to colored porcelain appliances. I had a 14,000 square foot cooking school filled with the high end stainless appliances for home cooks and they were and are a nightmare to keep clean and fingerprint free. Porcleain is so much easier to keep clean plus I personally like the colors ( as long as they are not are harvest gold or avocado green :) ) I use the two front burners consistently, one of 18,000 btu's the other is 15,000 btu's. Those simmer burners in the back are fairly useless. I needed to simmer two stocks overnight and did so using the low setting on the 2 front burners. It was perfect. The gas convection oven does a a good job baking evenly on both convection and regular bake. It has a fan and two elements claiming true convection. I am not sure how Samsung's elemnrts stack up to the more expensive brands but have had excellent results thus far baking. The bread proofing setting is perfect and certainly beats turning the oven on and then off and hoping for the best. I am anxious to try their dehydrate option. Another really nice option is the slide out gliding rack. It is outstanding to be able to slide the rack out rather than struggling getting into a large Le Creuset dutch oven to check on the contents. I may but 2 more of these racks to replace the other two standard racks. I am buying a 600 CFM hood fan that will be vented outside as the silly overhead microwave that came with the house never shuts off while I am using this high BTU range. In addition my smoke alarms go off at least once a day. I highly recommend investing in a good hood fan. It will suck all the grease and odors from your home outside. I ended up buying a Broan fan which cost almost as much as the sale price of the range. ...but worth every penny. Grease floats through the air and resides on your furniture and walls if not removed by a good fan. Overall this range is an excellent buy. I had to have mine converted to propane as there is no gas in the mountains which was a 10 minute job for in the installer and the kit came with the range. I have recommended this range to my son and a friend. Samsung has done a good job bringing an affordable range to the general public. With all this being said, I have only owned this for a month and have had no issues, breaks or failures. I will report any service or failure problems if they arise. I will say that Samsung customer service is not very knowledgeable or helpful. They seem to be reading off of a chart and could not answer questions intelligently. I got this range on sale for about $1,100 dollars, almost $400 off the regular $1,500 price. Home Depot seems to run this sale every few months.
