The water level is not filling to cover the clothes completely. How can this be fixed?

This question is from 4.5 cu. ft. Top Load Washer in White, ENERGY STAR

I understand the water level is based on weight, however, it still is not enough water to completely cover the clothing and supply a thorough washing. Is this something others are noticing? I find it very frustrating as I must allow it to fill, shut it off, turn it back on, let it drain so the clothes weigh more...then start the wash over to "trick it" into filling correctly. A lot of money for a washer I have to babysit. Help! Thank you!

Answer:
This is like all the High Efficiency washers, either front or top load, so they only use the right amount of water needed. I have had an HE washer for 10 years and have always had clean clothes, including my husband's grimey work clothes. I do pre-spray with SHOUT, but I have no problems. I am awaiting the arrival of my new Samsung because my Frigidaire just went ka-put!

have you tried using the pre soak with your wash loads then you won't have to baby sit it they are designed to use less water and after owning mine i figured out it forces the water through the cloths it does not aggregate, then it spins the water through that's why it goes from one direction to the other and you have to make sure its not over loaded for they size you have I hope this helps

I asked the same question. Basically the water level is measured by the type of load you put in along with your selections for the wash cycle. I actually stood with a flashlight and looked in the washer to see how it was washing. I thought this cannot be getting the clothes clean but it kept re-adjusting the water level and spinning it to even the clothes out. When spinning the water out, if the clothes Read More

I actually stood with a flashlight and looked in the washer to see how it was washing. I thought this cannot be getting the clothes clean but it kept re-adjusting the water level and spinning it to even the clothes out. When spinning the water out, if the clothes happened to be off balance it would stop, re-adjust again and add more water until it was level and then spin out. I do not like how long the whole wash cycle takes or the fact that you cant control the timing or how much water to fill the tank to wash but I quess with modern technology this machine thinks and determines for you. I did however notice afterwards that my clothes were definately clean and soft. Read Less

Yes it does, but it took me looking in the user guide to figure out how to use it. You have to cycle through the temp settings until NO LIGHTS are lit on the display. This indicates cold water only. Kinda weird why they did it this way.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice washer the washer has a lot of features that help clean your clothes really good July 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pros and Cons - but, mostly PROS The washer does a great job. It has an Eco wash, which is nice - saving energy. It does ding a long time at the end of the wash cycle, which is kind of annoying if you aren't wanting to jump up and move the laundry to the dryer. I love how you can leave the door open (had a front open before) and it dries out. Today it caught my granddaughter's tag on her shirt (size 3mo) in the basin by the seal. That worries me, hopefully it was a fluke. May 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Big disappointment! If I could give it lower that 1 star I would. I bought this washer and was excited when it was delivered the following week. On my very first load it made a very loud clicking sound when it went into wash mode. Being that it was my first load I wasn't sure what to think. I had to stop machine and when I called Samsung they told me it must be a problem with the agitator so they offered to have someone come in to look at it for possible repair. I decided instead to return it for a full refund. Why would I want to have something I just got and never used repaired? I didn't want to run the risk of getting the same one as it had already showed me how quickly they can mess up. It's a beautiful machine but did not work out for me. August 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE! no stock waited 3 weeks, delivery service didn't show up on first scheduled day. Waited entire day because when I callled they said they were coming. Next Saturday it was delivered error codes "UE" from the first load of wash (1 sheet set). Samsung service didn't return calls for service request. Returned to Home Depot. Waiting another week for a new machine. p.s. my Samsung refrigerator is acting up and can't get a service ticket even though it's 3 mos. old. DON'T BUY SAMSUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! August 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Samsung Non standard size--Excessively large This Samsung washer is 29.75 inches deep. It is 2.5 inches deeper than the one it replaced and 3 inches deeper than than most other washers, which are between 26.5 and 27.5 inchces. Since there must be at least an inch for the drain hose, the washer requires 31 inches. Most alcoves (like mine) are only 30 inches deep. Silly me for thinking that there was some "relative standard" for size. I had it installed in my rental house and now I am unable to close the door and there is no way to adjust the door. I can't send it back since tenants used it. So I will have to sell it on the used market and look for a normal sized washer. July 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great washer, and almost no dryer needed! Took a little getting used to with no big hunky agitator sticking up in the center. Also took some trust in that the water level (automatic) would be adequate. Turns out Samsung is way better at laundry than me. Clothes are clean, and nearly dry when the cycle ends. Thought I was going to replace my dryer too, but alas the dryer was fine it was my old washing machine that was the problem. I was lucky, got mine off the floor as a return and discounted. At full price this is still a great machine. Nice work Samsung. August 18, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Leaves dirty residue on clothes I have had problems with this washer ever since bought it. Overall, it functions properly; however, it continually left dirt residue on my clothes. Samsungs Customer Service was polite and professional but they should train their employees tobe more knowledgeable about their products. In any event, after numerous "repairs" I finally learned from the last service call that this washer has washability issues. Finally the truth comes out. I ended up speaking to the store manager at Home Depot who returned my defective washer so I could purchase another one. I only wish samsung was honest to begin with because it would have saved me a lot of frustration for the last 3 months. July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Old Dog -- New Tricks Nothing intuitive here, but I have to admit learning space age laundry ways has a good outcome. Right out of the box I saw a DEEP stainless tub. At 5'6" I can stretch and reach the very bottom. A shorter person may need a short step stool. Cycle time averages 55 min for normal loads, BUT it holds twice the amount of clothes as my old Maytag front loader so it amazingly saves me time. This is a computer type machine that has preset programs to choose from. I have gotten used to them and they give good results. Water level is very low in the tub. You would think the clothes will not get clean, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how the clothes come out. SPIN cycle creates so much torque that clothes are very dry and even putting the double sized load into my existing dryer has not put extra stress on the dryer. Using the dry-sense drying it takes approx the same minutes as before! August 16, 2016
