Product Overview

The Samsung 30 in. 5.9 cu. ft. Freestanding Induction Range with Flex CookZone features a flexible cooking surface to suit any-sized pan or cookware that would not otherwise fit on a standard stove configuration. Consumers can use the large 10 in. x17 in. Flex CookZone area as a full-length bridge element or as two separate induction elements, based on the size of their cookware. The range also features Samsung’s Boil Alert, which detects vibration from hot liquids and automatically reduces heat to a preset level, thus reducing boil-over accidents. The sensors detect the boiling points of liquids beyond water - including soups, oils, and milk - and beeps to alert consumers. The large capacity true convection oven uses a heating element and fan to circulate air, providing consistent oven temperatures for uniform browning, even baking and up to 30% faster roasting. The SteamClean option allows you to spot-clean the oven floor in just 20 minutes, but also has a self-cleaning for the deeper clean. Favorite Pots/Pans

I'm curious what your favorite pots & pans are to use with this stove top?
Asked by: MoreQuestions
Do a Google Search for "induction cookware." Don't spend a lot of money. I bought an Oziel 12-inch skillet and a stock pot, both of which were in the $30-$50 range. They work well.

Still confused

Thank you for your answer about the pans. We had already learned all of that. But there is such a HUGE difference in reviews & pricing on stainless pans. Demeyere pans are the most expensive, good reviews, but also it's been said that you won't notice a difference in daily cooking. And Demeyere pans are 100 pounds!! LOL! Cuisinart pans are $150 for a whole set, but seem to not have a "core" like the Demeyere & Calphalon. Then Calphalon has 3 lines of stainless, AcuCore, TriPly & Contemporary. I've learned the difference between them all, but do not know how that translates into actually cooking on an induction top. Does Samsung sell pans? Does Samsung sponsor a manufacturer? When it comes to the actual make up of the core, does Samsung prefer one over another? As in, is a silver core better than a copper core? Is a seven ply really better than a three ply? Are there differences in pans based on what is actually being cooked in them? Oh, and how do I cook an egg in a stainless pan without it burning???

I recently bought this oven, too. I am an avid cook with experience in only gas and electric. I had to order some new cookware for the Samsung. As you know, all the cookware for the stove-top need to have bases that are magnetic. I used Google "induction cookware" search. What I found was that there were many options that were significantly lower in price than the ones you mention above. So far, I have received a stock pot and an Oziel 12-inch skillet that were both very reasonable in price and work very well. I gave my long-standing Calphalon Stock Pot and 12-inch skillet (non-magnetic) to my neighbors. Both were extremely expensive when I bought them a decade ago. Good Luck!!

How many volts required from house panel?

in the specs, it lists 53 Volts. Does that mean I don't have to run a 220V line to run this? A 120V line will be sufficient.

Does this induction oven come in black?

Only one color, but there is enough black in the design that it fits well with all black appliances. We have the Samsung 32 cu. foot fridge (black) and microwave and it all goes together very well. The cooktop of the stove is black, so is the glass inset on the control panel and the tinting on the glass oven door... and the sides of the range, if you can see them.

5.9 cu. ft. Induction Range with Self-Cleaning True Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy.... Unless you have hours to spend daily on the phone with customer 'service' We both the stove because it had a lot of features for a good price,,, however we now regret that decision immensely. All of our pots are induction compatible. Yet, only one pot we own works on all of the size appropriate burners. The pots keep generating a pan detection error and even when they work... they they stop work midway through cooking the meal allowing everything to go cold. Samsung doesn't care. They just keep saying that the problem is our pots... We finally were able to exchange the stove for Electrolux after making enough noise where we bought the stove. All of our pots are working fine now. Don't let Samsung into your kitchen....Poor quality, poor service!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great So Far We bought this range after many days of research and so far it has been a great purchase. My wife wanted a gas stove but we don't have access to a gas line and putting a tank in the ground sounded like too much work. We have had the stove for 1 week now so I can't comment on the durability yet. I can comment on how happy my wife and so far she is extremely happy. Our old stove burnt or under cooked everything and it took forever for the oven to heat up. My wife has been cooking up a storm since the day it arrived and my stomach is very happy. The stove responds very well and lowers or raises the temp as soon as you adjust it. I hope it continues to perform like it has the first week. The only real issue with the stove is having to buy new metal pans that will work on the stove. Once you find the right pan you should be cooking like a pro in no time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Product I purchased this range and when it was delivered the large right front element did not work at all. Samsung sent repair technician to my home twice (over a period of 2 months) and he replaced components both times but could not make it work. He recommended to Samsung to replace the entire range but they refused so I am stuck with a brand new range that does not work. Needless to say I would never recommend that anyone should purchase any Samsung appliance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Stove I've Ever Had! This is literally the best stove I've ever owned. I've owned electric, natural gas, and propane powered stoves and this by far is the best with regards to options, features, temperature consistency, and pan-heating time. Gas has always been my preferred method but induction rivals gas and.... dare I say, is better in many aspects. Because induction does not leave elements that need to cool off after cooking, its generally safer especially if you have two lovable trouble-making cats who make everything their business while you're cooking. I would give this stove 5 stars but the biggest con is the glass top. It's remarkably sensitive; I've had the stove for 5 months now and already have scratches and tiny cracks. I've never had this issue on ceramic/glass/flat-top electric stoves in the past. This is both a con and a design disappointment. Samsung should have really taken the cook top's sturdiness into account considering the pans needed for induction cooking are generally heavy and more hefty than light aluminum pans. If you're in the market for an electric stove, go straight to induction.. then go for a Samsung! Just be really, really careful with the glass stove top. Please keep in mind that I've only owned this stove for a few months and can't review to the item's longevity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from too many technical problems By using more than one burner at a time, it changes my prefered temperature settings making it impossible to cook using more that one or two pans at a time. Great for boiling water. That's about it. too many error codes that incapacitates the stove, happens often during long and multiple use such as on holidays or cooking for company! I've only had it for two years and now it's broken to the point that a very expensive repair is being arranged by Samsung so instead of having it repaired happly I am junking this appliance and happily buying an old trusted brand.

We bought this product because we wanted an induction range, have other Samsung appliances that have performed well, and thought getting it through Home Depot with their "Protection Plan" would ensure we get good customer service if needed. Wow were we wrong. We've had the unit going on almost 2 years now and so far we are 2 for 2 with it breaking once per year and being out of commission for a couple weeks. Near the end of the first year the touch control panel became unresponsive and we could not turn on any of the burners nor the oven. To our surprise when we called Home Depot to utilize their 3-year Protection Plan (that we paid extra for) we were told that they could not help us because it was within the first year. Instead we were directed to contact the manufacturer (Samsung) to get service. A couple weeks and 3-4 separate appointments later it was finally fixed. Apparently when a technician is sent out they are not provided the needed parts so he had to first come see what parts he thought he needed, then order and come back out to install. The first cycle of this did not fix it so we had to repeat those steps before it was finally fixed. The second break took place on Thanksgiving Day (near the end of the 2nd year) in the middle of baking our turkey and preparing for our Thanksgiving dinner. This time since we were in the 2nd year the Home Depot Protection Plan did cover it, however the technician cycle described above continued to play out. Come evaluate, order, come back, hope it fixes the issue, repeat. There are multiple aspects of this that have been and continue to be disappointing (questionable quality of the product from Samsung, lack of support from Home Depot during the first year, extremely inconvenient service cycle almost guaranteeing multiple appointments to correct an issue), but the icing on the cake was the news from the Protection Plan agent indicating that they do have a lemon policy to replace bad product, but it requires the same part to break at last 4 times and they don't start counting until year 2 since year 1 is covered by the manufacturer. So it leaves us with the option to keep this unit and expect breakdowns with bad service or replace it at our own expense. The one thing I know if the next one won't be a Samsung and it won't be from Home Depot!
