When I looked at the two units side-by-side, the "upgraded design" basically boiled down to a different handle style. The Chef's handles are flat bars, and on the other unit the handles are round bars. To decide which stylistically would be best for you kitchen, I would suggest looking at the handles on your dishwasher and fridge. If your stove is on a different wall than the other appliances, the handle Read More

Hi Andi,
These two models have many of the same features. Besides the upgraded Chef Collection design, the NX58H9950WS offers a 19K BTU Power Burner and Gliding Rack, compared to the 18K BTU Power Burner and split rack in the NX58H9500WS.

I did ....... .... and their well .............. educated customer service told me that the range doesn't come with the filler kit because it's not listed in the user manual. That's a true statement because the filler kit is listed in the installation manual as well as the anti tip bracket, screws etc.. I wasn't able to make them understand that the range has two manuals, one for installation and one for operation. I sent them the scanned manual and their reply was:
"We appreciate you contacting Samsung Electronics and being a valued customer. This is in regards to your recent interaction with one of the Live chat agent with the Chat ID LTK------------------- regarding the filler kit inclusion with the unit. We have double checked the resources and see that the filler kit is not included with your model unit "

Good question, and is one that I asked myself prior to purchasing this range. While I personally would have appreciated the option to purchase a stainless filler strip, I'm going to go out on a limb and say "No" because the black filler strip is universal in that it can be used with other Samsung ranges. Also, in the case of an installation with a new counter top cut to the proper depth, the filler strip would not be needed. Since many new ranges are being installed into older countertops that were cut to accomodate the old range extending to the back wall, the strip was necessary to take up the gap. The depth of this range is shallow, to give the appearance of a built-in range. On the plus side, Samsung includes the filler strip whereas other manufacturers don't include it. Read Less

Chef Collection 30 in. 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Well that is unfortunate. I purchased this range for a new home build the end of August 2015. We didn't move in until Oct. 1. The range was relatively a good performer, with neat functions. All was fairly well until this year, on the night before Thanksgiving Day. With us hosting the Thanksgiving festivities, my wife decided to run the "Self-Clean" cycle, overnight, as we went to bed. We awoke the next morning to the display DEAD. Assuming it just got hot and tripped the breaker, there was no cause for panic. But, the breaker was not tripped, the oven was no longer working. A quick Google search led us to a quick diagnostic that the "brain" was fried from being over heated by the self-clean cycle. And wouldn't you know, a One Year Warranty. Thanks Samsung

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Range disaster Top of the line 9950WS Master Chef model, very similar to 9500WS. Made in Thailand, came with major manufacturers defect: malfunctioning and gas leaking largest burner valve! Samsung's Customer Service (what a gem!) tried to deny service or exchange/return by shifting blame on installation! (Unbelievable but true!). After few weeks of standing useless in my kitchen and heavy bickering with Samsung and the seller they finally replaced the faulty valve, but it is still not operating smoothly. Top of the stove is made of fake stainless steel-brushed aluminum! It is very soft thus extremely easy to scratch and difficult to clean! When in bake/broil mode, fan makes loud annoying noise. It cannot be turned off and blows out a LOT of hot air in addition to smelly residue of food (self-clean mode). The stove very slowly heats up and cools down and the pilots keep lighting most of the time when baking/broiling. This and the always running fan can substantially enlarge your electric bill, especially in summer time. Conclusion: A "wonderful addition" to your open concept kitchen, nice looking so it may double as a TV stand i.e. So, I am stock with this costly mistake (well over $2k), as seller and Samsung refuse to return/exchange.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Customer service I love the unit its features more than accommodates my daily lifestyle. However within less than a years time it has broken down on me 3 times. Underneath the top burner plate is a sensor in my model. If items boil over and touch that sensor it will lock out your touch pad. They sell a model with that sensor on the side I'm told. The touch screen locked on me after a self clean as well. After the warming draw stopped warming I was told since its under a year that samsung has to service it for me. After speaking with a representative and given a complaint number they stopped responding to my complaint. So now I have a expensive piece of art that doesn't work as designed and a angry wife. It's strange but if it worked as designed I'd recommend it. But their customer service left me hanging in the wind. If they reach out to me I'll report that to you guys as well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice range. Lots of features. Shallow warming compartment. I purchased and had this slide-in gas range installed in my home last week. The range provides a large recessed area across the back panel, so it wasnt' necessary to shorten or relocate the existing gas line that extends about 10-inches out of the floor. Aside from a gas line, and the proper fittings, a 120v electrical receptacle is required to power the igniters, touch screen, light, etc. The main range is controlled by an easy to operate touch screen display. Food cooks evenly and pies rise higher using the convection fan. My wife has been baking non-stop since the range was installed, to make up for the 3 weeks she was without a range. The range appears to be very good quality contruction, although my wife and I wish the cast iron grates were heavier gauge. The range includes a weighty 2-sided cast iron griddle that sits ontop of the elongated center burner, and a cradle for holding pans with rounded botoms such as tea pots and woks. This is a 30-inch range which required no modification to my existing granite counters. The range features an approximately 1/2 inch overhang on each side to hide the unightly gap that usually exists between a range and countertop, giving the range a built-in appearance. The warming compartment at the bottom of the range is more shallow, than the Frigidaire range it replaced, and even though there's a separate control knob for it, the manufacturer doesn't recommend using the warming compartment for storage. One thing to note, which I don't care for, is that one or more of the igniters will click and spark when trying to light another burner. Also, the burners are more difficult to light than the burners on my old range, presumably because of the relatively long range of travel in the knob between the ignite and the high heat settings. For whatever reason, the top of the range runs shallow and doesn't extend to the back wall. Even though the range is entirely constructed of stainless steel, top included, Samsung includes an optional black painted metal spacer. Since the spacer didn't match the range, I purchaed a stainless steel vent from another brand of range to take up the gap. Overall, this is a really nice range and we are thrilled with it, so far. The stainless steel is shinier than other appliances we own, so we may have to upgade the other appliances to match. That said, the differences between this range and the NX58H9500WS are subtle; a different handle (flat vs. rounded), extra 1,000 BTU burner, and a better rack glide, and may not be worth the extra cost for the subtleties and Chef Collection badging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product meets all expectations We are home cooks that use our range 2 to 3 times a day. We had a glass top electric range that did not suit our needs. We wanted a gas range that would allow us greater control over the cooking temperatures with greater responsiveness. This range does that! The five burners give us a number of options for temperature ranges. We particularly love the 19,000 BTU power burner. We use this for searing and finishing meats. The temperature is very consistent and immediately adjusts to any changes to the heat setting, so the meats are perfect every time. The wok ring was an added bonus, and has already had a lot of use. The smaller burners are great for reducing sauces. We use the stove for roasting and reverse searing meats, rather than baking. The stove heats extraordinarily quickly when compared with our electric stove, and maintains a consistent heat as well. This is a wonderful stove that I would (and have) recommended to anyone! There is nothing we don't like about it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Range Ever I bought this range sight unseen and it is more than I expected. The oven is large large yet preheats quickly and the food I cook in the oven is browned to perfection. The cook top is fantastic and easy to clean. I have been cooking for over 40 years and in that time had several "gourmet " cook tops and ovens. This one wins hands down . The bonus is it is also beautiful to look at.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy With Oven The oven cooks items very evenly without any burning at all so far. The large burner heats water very quickly. The "Chef Collection" slide out rack is a big improvement. The touch control panel is very logical & convenient. There is a small internal vent blower that runs after oven use, not a big distraction but you can hear it running. The only con is the stainless steel top surface scratches easily. The cast iron burners can gouge the top surface if not handled very carefully. We are happy with the oven so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent range After months of research and show room floor visits to replace another name brand range less than one year old, we finally decided and purchased the Samsung Chef Collection slide in gas range. We haven't been this happy in a year! The construction, features, and (most importantly) the performance of the range has been absolutely stellar. My wife and I are avid kitchen chefs and like preparing gourmet meals. This range meets our requirements beautifully. Note: this is not a "fast food" range but a sophisticated, highly utilitarian tool - not for the occassional kitchen person. In fact, our opinion is that you'd have to spend a lot more (you know the one's I'm referring to) to get a comparable range based on features and performance! To top it off, it's also beautiful!
