Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Does Not Work
We purchased and installed this in March 2016. After 2 months we didn't see any difference. However, we thought we would give it more time. It does NOT work. We installed all brand new water pipes in our home, brand new bathrooms and kitchen appliances before we installed the Scale Blaster. It has been 6 months and its time to take it back. the inside of my stainless steel dishwasher is now white from the scale. my oil rubbed bronze fixtures are all scaly.
From what I learned through research, this only works on running water. And should be installed from the water heater output as well as another unit installed on the main incoming water line. 2 units? No thanks

We have terrible hard city water. It has ruined several dishwashers & washers, & leaves milky white spots on faucets & my car when I wash it. I did have to cut some pipe to get my 1 foot of pipe "before the house & hot water supply. Did it myself. Went from large water spots on my car to just about nothing.
Both my wife & I noticed within days our hair was softer, & we don't have that smell in our water. I'm adding pics but the last pic is what I want to get rid of on our oil furnace humidifier. Will report back in winter. Nasty.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lynne Extremely difficult to install
I'm rating 3 stars as I've finally just installed after numerous issues and don't know if it works (given the issues I had and my poor installation, I'm guessing it won't).
Having done a ton of DIY projects solo including some pretty major stuff like pouring a new basement slab, I can't believe I have to say this is by far the most difficult project I've tried. This is not a one person do-it-yourself!! I wish someone had posted that earlier and I'd have had a handyman do it or come in to help. But since I didn't see any posts about this being a 2 person job and being stubborn, I just kept at it.
As you can see from the photos, wrapping the wire 100 times was horrendous and I was never able to get a nice, tight wrap. Undoubtedly PVC is way easier than copper since you only have to do 1 layer for most sizes. The photo was my third and final attempt. Finally figured out to bind some of the extra wire with a bread bag twister so it would be easier to toss over the pipe while holding the wrap tight with the other hand. It took a couple of tries to figure out how much to bind as I'd end up with not enough or too much. The third bowl of porridge was juuust right?? Needless to say 4 hands vs 2 plus teeth would work better (yeah, you gotta have a sense of humor at some point).
No matter how tightly I held the wire as I was wrapping it, it was very difficult to get the wire snug against the prior wrap. Especially the second layer. I tried several times, but it would slide into the groove from the first layer and I couldn't snug it up. Again guessing that you could do this much better with two people.
I'm also very disappointed with the inlets for the wire. Unlike the inlets (whatever they're technically called) for speakers, it's very difficult to pull the wire back out to rethread when a wire or two bunches up as you're sliding it in. The holes are too small!! There's no reason the hold can't be larger given it's being held in place by a spring or whatnot to clamp the wire in. And the plastic piece that you push to pull it back out and readjust is tiny and difficult to press-again unlike any speaker I've ever had (and I"ve had many and all have been wired vs plug-old school). As you can see in the last pic, I finally gave up (and yes, I did twist it very tight-the hole is just so small that you have to get it EXACT or it bunches the wires). The light is on and the signal indicators are working, so I'm crossing my fingers it's wrapped tight enough to work.
I'll update in a month or two once I know if it's working. I do have a water softener but got this to supplement as we have 18 or so gpg in our city and I still have a large amount of build up on anything water touches (and this is a new water softener and it's been checked twice).

I was having to clean out the Aerators in most of mt faucets at least weekly. Once I installed the Scale Ban I have not had to clean them out for over 6 weeks so far. Good investment.

We are very happy with our purchase. After reading reviews and, of course, the manual, we felt well prepared to tackle installation. It went very smoothly. Instructions were straightforward and additional helps from reviews were useful. We were surprised how quickly and easily the process was accomplished. Frankly we were uneasy too; wondering what we missed. We were amazed how quickly our water pressure returned! We were prepared to not see results for several weeks if not months. We initially cleaned faucet filters routinely as the buildup was breaking up. We also flushed the water heater as recommended after 30 days. We are approaching the 2 month mark and could not be happier with this product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Russellgc28 It really works!!!!
We recently built a house in the country and are on well water. We noticed immediately how our water was hard with calcium building up on brand new fixtures. Also, when taking showers, it was almost impossible to get the soap to lather. Clean dishes would come out of the dishwasher looking dull and chalky.
I installed this descaler and noticed results after 1 day. Soap in the shower lathered better. Dishes came out noticeably cleaner. All I can say is this thing really works! Check out the picture for proof. Install was easy. I had to completely re plumb the water coming into my house because I did not have enough pipe for wire wraps. I wrapped the wire around my pvc pipe before I glued it back together making the wrapping process so much easier. I plugged the 2 leads back into the descaler and got immediate results. My wife loves it! She loves how the dishes look so much cleaner. I was skeptical when I bought this but now I am a believer. I would higher recommend getting one. Remember, this is a water conditioner not a water softener. Your water still will have the calcium but I changes the condition of the water.

We live in California and have really hard water. Since installing the Scale Blaster about 8 weeks ago, I have noticed the sink aerator screens are clean and no more water deposits on the glasses after the dishwasher. It really works and is easy to install.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Plink314 Impressed with results
My wife and I just moved into a new construction home out in the country. We are on a well and we have 17 gpg water. Our initial thought was to get a water softer but before investing considerable amount of $ we looked into the scale blaster. I'm glad we did! Before we installed it, water would start to turn the extra bathroom toilet bowl brown within 4-5 days. Since install, the toilet bowl has yet to stain from standing water. The only downfall to the Scale Blaster is the install process. It took some time and patience but so far we have been very pleased with the results.
If you're looking for "soft" water you're NOT going to get it with this product. If you want to reduce the lime/scale build up in your pipes, faucets, toilets, and on shower glass this IS the product for you.
