Before installing the device, water hardness is at 12 gpg. After a day of installing the device, the water hardness went down to 8 gpg. Manufacturer said it will take a month to see the result. I did not expect to see it work after a day of installation and I am very impress of the result. I very very good buy.

Purchased this unit when it went on a steep discount as the deal of the day. Installation was easy enough. It goes much quicker if you keep the wire from tangling while completing the wrapping process. We have a small rancher with limited plumbing. Our shower head and sinks were always getting coated with calcium (along with the dishwasher). Somewhere along the two week installation mark my wife noticed the glasses and silverware started to look shiny and clear. We're well water based and I noticed a general improvement in water pressure. The shower and sinks are now spot free and our clothes are much brighter coming out of the washing machine. This thing works.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ScruffyNerfherder Very Pleasantly Surprised
I purchased this only because it was on sale for (roughly) 30% off and because of the 90 day return policy - just in case it performed as I expected.
I went into my purchase\installation with the expectation that this little box would, at best, do nothing. However, I have to admit, I am more than pleasantly surprised that I have noticed an actual reduction in the severity if my post-showering dry skin.
Before I installed this, I had tried all sorts of bath soaps and skin creams - bars that are 1/3 moisturizer, shower gels, post-shower body lotion, etc. - and nothing could cure my dry skin issue(s). After some research, I discovered that dry skin is a common issue when bathing with hard water.
You should absolutely follow the directions when installing this. Not that the installation procedure is overly complicated but there are specific guidelines to follow where the failure to do so could negatively impact the performance of this device. For example: I've seen several customer photos where people have installed this and the wires seem haphazardly run and or are crisscrossing each other - which is plainly spelled out as a no-no in the installation manual. Be precise and exact when wrapping the pipes - tight is what you're going for and need.
I would most definitely recommend this to a friend.

My husband says the installation was fairly easy. The most difficult part was wrapping the cable around the water pipe. I did not measure the hardness of our water before the installation, but my skin feels softer after showering.

A little background: about eleven years ago we bought a house (built in 1955) which had galvanized pipes and a water softener. We removed the water softener, installed a new water heater, and bypassed the galvanized plumbing entirely by installing a new copper pipe system, with the hot water supply arranged in a loop. The loop feeds hot water water to all fixtures in the house and has an inline pump installed right before it circles back into the hot water heater through a T-fixture connected to the original hot water heater drain cock. Fast forward ten years. The water heater makes horrendous rumbling noises anytime someone turns on the hot water anywhere in the house, and there is visible corrosion on some of the connections. Water flow from shower heads had become little more than a trickle, and some of the shut-off valves (such as behind the toilet) have become jammed with mineralization to the point where the knobs break off rather than actually shut off the valve. All bad news. Read reviews, purchased this item, installed it and hoped for the best with fingers crossed (but not holding my breathe). Almost immediately, we noticed a slight difference in the feel of the water. Almost as if the water was more slippery. That didn't make much sense to me, and wasn't the reason I bought this gizmo. I wanted my scale blasted for goodness sakes! I think it said to give it 90 days to work. Well, my experience is that the changes I was looking for only really began to show by that time. By ninety days, I was pretty much just starting to see and experience the positive signs I was looking for. Positive sign: my shower heads and sink strainers (aerators) were getting plugged up with broken up mineralization chunks. Some were the size of grains of sand, some a bit larger. That was a pain to disconnect shower heads and such to clean out the debris, but it was a sign that things were getting broken up! A bit after the 90 days, I opened a faucet fixture at the lowest point in my hot water loop and out came a bunch of sediment (at least several tablespoons worth of materiL, I'd guess)! It was enough to nearly choke the faucet opening. Now it has been about six months and the water heater is much quieter, the water flow is much better, I don't have to remove the shower heads and such as much as I had to at the 90-day mark, and about once every two weeks I open that low faucet on the loop to let out about half a gallon of water with sediment. The amount of sediment that comes out now is a lot less (maybe a teaspoon or less each time). I still have corrosion and build-up on the exterior of some connections and I'm not sure that this device can do anything about that. But all in all, I am glad I bought this device. I'm satisfied that it does actually work as described, although it seemed to take longer to show results than I expected. In fact, so much of what it does is internal that I don't know if I would have noticed at the 90-day mark if I hadn't been intentional about scrutinizing its performance and if I didn't have that low faucet on the loop to give me the opportunity to actually see what comes loose in my pipes from using this device. I bought mine when it was on sale at a great discount, but (knowing what I know now) I would say that it actually works well enough to warrant the full asking price if no sale price could be obtained. I deducted on star because I just wish it worked faster, and because (at full price) it is priced outside the reach of a lot of people who might really benefit from it.

I bought this unit over a year ago. I have not seen any noticeable difference in the quality of my water. I have a point well. I followed instructions explicitly with the number of wraps. To me this is a pass or fail rating. It either works or it doesn't. Considering it does not do what it is supposed to. I give it no stars but rating makes you choose 1.

I have been having skin issues for 4 years and have had no solution. Until now. Hard water doesn't just effect appliances and pipes. The same stuff you cant get off the bathtub is on your skin. I have wondered what the tiny white rocks were that would come off of my face. And why I would see things trapped under my skin. It was the scale built up on my skin and the calcium from the water was trapped under the build up. My skin started clearing within 15 minutes of this being installed. years of build up of all the minerals on my skin is finally coming off. Brown spots that I thought were from the sun are disappearing. I cant say how much I appreciate this product and the knowledge I have learned about how hard water effects everything. It was one of the best products of the year at the 2016 hardware show in Vegas this year. I want to get the new product that is for extremely hard water. If you have skin issues or your towels and clothes feel funny have your water tested and try this product.

I was very unsure that this product would make the water feel "soft". We had a normal water conditioning system until we moved. We did not like the hard water at our new home but did not want the hassle of filling a softner system with salt. After reviewing many web sites about the saltless systems out there, we decided to try the Scaleblaster. Having experienced soft water before, we can tell you that this product works! You can definitely feel the difference when taking a shower.
