Yes, as per the instructions. Our unit was easy to set up in our well house. We set our windings around the 1.5 inch PVC pipe headed to the main house, again as per instructions. Once the wiring was done it was as simple as pluging the unit in.

They say no but I have. As far as the winter and freezing im going to put it in a box and insulate it. I did have it in a plastic box with a top and I put hioles for the wires but I think it got to hot so I have it covered from possible rain. The hotter it gets the harder the water is down here in Texas.

I'm an electronics engineer, not a chemist. Looking at the supposed theory of operation of this gadget, I cannot imagine how it could possibly work. There are no published independent tests of effectiveness. Some customers have said that they are satisfied with their units, but if I spent a lot of money on this I would be ashamed to admit I've been had. There's probably $20 worth of parts in it.

Answer:
Yes it works well outside the house. Ours is installed from the outside too. You just have to have enough wire to connect to the base unit. Our unit is inside the garage and the wires thread through a vent. They make a unit that can be outside and withstand the weather. You just have to be sure you can plug the unit into a power source.

You need electricity to connect it to your main water line where it meets the house. A wire is wrapped around the pipe blasting the water in the pipe with an electric charge. We used a plumber - he'd never seen one but read up on it and was very impressed! No filters to change.

Depending on your layout you may be able to do the wrapping outside. There are limits from unit distance to wrapping. Check YouTube for some great videos. Good luck! We are happy with ours, about a year old now, we eliminated salt based softener after several months and water quality is great. Were using up all our left over bags of salt for dishwasher with great results.

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 242 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Promises a lot so we shall see! I had a compicated installation, but finally got it done. The ease of installation obviously depends on the layout of your situation. Make sure you adhere to the infomation about placement distances. I had no outlet close by so had to add power cord. So far my toilet ring seems to be disappearing, but only had it operable a week or two. Even if it ends up not working up to all the hype, it is here too stay as it took too long to get it installed! If possible, I will update after 3 months which is the recommended time to see results. I am 70+ years old woman and I did it myself. October 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very impress Before installing the device, water hardness is at 12 gpg. After a day of installing the device, the water hardness went down to 8 gpg. Manufacturer said it will take a month to see the result. I did not expect to see it work after a day of installation and I am very impress of the result. I very very good buy. August 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works better than expected Purchased this unit when it went on a steep discount as the deal of the day. Installation was easy enough. It goes much quicker if you keep the wire from tangling while completing the wrapping process. We have a small rancher with limited plumbing. Our shower head and sinks were always getting coated with calcium (along with the dishwasher). Somewhere along the two week installation mark my wife noticed the glasses and silverware started to look shiny and clear. We're well water based and I noticed a general improvement in water pressure. The shower and sinks are now spot free and our clothes are much brighter coming out of the washing machine. This thing works. May 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by have not had it long enough to rate properly the water line was hard to locate so I had to install the wire on the hot water heater, cold side. That was difficult to because of the confined space. The hot water heater was too heavy to move out of the way, even after emtying it. I was able to move it 3 in. Just enough to get one arm around it to reach the water line. wrapping that wire was difficult. It is to soon to know if it works or not, It takes 90 day for the unit clear the scales out of the pipes, after that time I will know it I like it or not. October 12, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It is hard to give it 5 stars with so little time of use. I installed it and most people could do it if you are careful. I really hope to notice a difference. It has been installed for about a week. October 29, 2016
