What size is the female adaptor that connects to the gas can?
Asked by: Mowerman
Thank you for taking the time to answer. Do you think it would be possible to cut the end off the spout to make it a ready to pour spout, what I mean is, can I cut off the epa design and make it a ready to use spout?

Bought two with on gas cans, then bought a replacement, it broke too. Can't believe HD is still selling this product. Continually buying these and breaking them does not save one's carbon footprint. Think of all of the energy wasted making this product!

After one use, each of them broke. Yeah sure, the EPA is to blame for the regulation requiring the cockamamie device, but for the same $$ I got another nozzle from Western Tire & Auto on Kent Island. And. It. Works. Stay away from this product.

Gas leaked all over the place even if you can find the lip to push the spout open. This is the one that states in ever so fine print on the bottom of the packaging to use on Scepter gas cans only. A waste.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from stupid design, but it DOES work. I got it to work! BUT it is a DESIGN FAIL. You need to remove the little black hat-like travel cap from the spout (it fits on the tip as shown in the pix, it ALSO fits at the base of the spout under the screw-on collar that holds it onto the can (for travelling). With that safety cap out of the way, the spout can be pressed into the can as instructed. BUT you need to fiddle with the green collar to get the spout to depress as designed. The WxxCO brand of can & spill-proof spout is easier to use and it's been around for at least 15 years but they're not as completely spill-proof as Scepter's design. Basically Scepter NEEDS to have BETTER INSTRUCTIONS than the half-informative blurb on the package. Pictures!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke during first use - spills gas Came as part of the scepter 2.5g gas container. There's a green locking ring mechanism that is supposed to "click" when unlocked. It didn't click but a spring came out of it. The picture directions indicate that you should push down on the edge of the tank being filled but nothing happens. Eventually you get a slow drip but fuel leaks all over the place. I can't return the thing - it's full of gas - so now I have to get a funnel to pour from the container.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete Junk. This spout leaked the first time I used it, not so much that I was leaving puddles of gasoline, but more than I would expect from the environmentally friendly, spill proof, EPA-certified, CARB compliant Eco Spout. The second time I used it the mechanism to lock/unlock the spout, enabling it to be depressed allowing the flow of gasoline, broke. Save yourself the headache and find a plain old spout, something that is simple (remove the cap, pour, and replace the cap) the fewer moving parts and gimmicky dispensing mechanisms the less that can leak and break.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worse ever Don't buy it! Hardware stores should stop selling this product immediately and take it off the shelves, it is the worst product design on the planet. I bought two gas cans with these spouts, both broke on first attempt to use. Extremely frustrating when you are a long way from a gas station.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst design ever Difficult to use and spills far more gas than any of the old spouts
