Customer Questions & Answers

Is the lock enterchangeable with another Schlage lock to make it keyed alike with our other locks?

Asked by: okbud
Yes, all Schlage locks purchased off the shelf can be keyed to match your other locks, as long as your other locks use the standard, stock Schlage key. If the store you purchased it from can't do it, any locksmith could easily do it.

I have been a locksmith for over 25 years and this exact model is what I have used to leave and enter my home every day. For our family it is perfect: it works perfectly, it has a very attractive design a great finish and it's reasonably priced. I've read a couple of reviews that are unfair so I wanted to let people know: THE REASON LOCKS DON'T ALWAYS WORK IS BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T INSTALL THEM CORRECTLY! The guy who said the latch broke probably allowed the dead-locking pin to go into the strike plate opening. This allows the lock to be credit carded/jimmied open plus the latch will break, probably within one year. I see this all the time! This is clearly illustrated in the directions. Don't allow the small dead locking pin to entire the strike hole!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't get locked out This keyed entry lever looks and works well enough. However, be aware that model F51 comes with a serious catch. The "emergency exit" feature means that the inside handle is never locked, even if the outside handle is blocked. This means that it is really easy to forget that the door is locked and find yourself locked out. Inexplicably, this "safety" feature is not noted on the package, nor can it be disabled. I am putting "safety" in quotes because the feature may indeed make it easier to get out in a panic but it may also prevent you from getting back in quickly enough to save someone or something precious left behind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No complaints. I've had two of these on exterior doors for over a year. I had no problem reversing the orientation of the levers and installing them. They seem fine to me ...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk This lockset is poorly made. After the "instant" rekeying to my key, it worked for a few tries, then refuses to accept the key. The inside button is made of plastic and kept falling out when I tried to install the lockset. I'm taking it back to get a refund and will try to find a better quality lockset.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Bought this handle because we liked the looks and thought it was a good brand. Barely a year old and the latch mechanism broke. Locking us out of the house
