How can this possibly be universal handling?

There is no way this handle could be oriented correctly (as pictured) to work on a door that swings to the right, into a room, and keep the lock on the inside of the room. I ran into this same problem at the store.
Can you please explain this to me?

I was confused on this as some answered yes, it's universal, and some answered no, the curve of the handles would flip if you reversed them. I even posted another question saying there's no way they are truly universal. Turns out the are, and I have installed one where I had to switch handles and proven it. You can get the curve whichever way you want on either side of the door. (Unless you want one lever curving up and the other curving down, that is. That's the only configuration you couldn't do.) There are older models that look the same but are not reversible, which is what confused me. Be assured these really are universal. Read Less

Answer:
This handle is designed to be operated comfortably with the arc curving downward.
Since the handle is not designed so that the locking button can be positioned on whichever side is required, the only option for 50% of installations is to have the handle curving upward, which is unsightly and unpleasant to operate.
This is bad design, and I've decided against this model.

Answer:
These handles actually have a simple mechanism to remove them and switch to the other side of the door. So you can choose to install them curving down or up and it's easy to switch. Just press a spring loaded clip with the included tool and the handle pulls right off.

Answer:
I have this handle on every interior door in my house. When it needs to be reversed, the handle simply curves upward rather than downward. I thought it was odd when I first noticed it, then realized that it took me several months before I did notice, and stopped caring. Also, the other side of the handle is a button so it doesn't look out of place regardless of handle orientation.

The handle can be switched inside out and outside in to reverse handing. Read the instruction. I am one of those first time installers. Found out the hard way.

Answer:
the handle can be reversed based on the needed requirement. Handing is determined by what side of the door the hinges are on...if facing the door the hinges are on the left, you would install a left handed lever on that side, then a right handed lever on the other side.

I need Schlage door levers, however I need them to fit a mobile home door. Does this lever adjust to fit that size? Kwikset has a piece you can buy to replace the inside and make it mobile home compatible. Does Schlage have that as well? Someone said that option might come with the standard handle. Thank you!

Answer:
The one I just bought had a "locking" feature of the "indoor" type - you push a button and it won't open. It doesn't have a key, though. It just open from the side you locked it, or there is a push-pin gadget you stick in the hole on the other side.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by snake and Home depot was the worst part of this bought one day tried to use once and it broke then I had to get a manager to approve refund because you returns desk just gives you customers a bad time and tried to rell me it was against the law to return a defective product for a refund so after spending 1/2 an hour at returns and having the manager return it in 30 seconds I will never buy anything at Home depot again since there is a Lowes right next door to you and I used to be a Pro customer so I am moving a large volume of business away from you because you do not have trained people in Customer service positions August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very happy with my visit and purchase's:) I ordered a bunch of stuff online and just picked them up in store, I didn't want to have walk around the whole store, this was convenient for me, in the order was 20 bags of mulch, so I drove my truck to gardening and their guys loaded it for me, I was happy with my trip to Home Depot all the way around :) July 5, 2016

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It's an OK product I bought 7 of them online and went home install one to see what it looks like on the door. I guess the look is OK. But the turning of this lock isn't as smooth as the 15-year old brass Weisser lock I am trying to replace. Guess I will be returning these and keep shopping. March 18, 2016
