Answer:
Not for the bridge but there is a cost for the Z-wave to connect to the internet ( the Nexia bridge connects to the Z-Wave). It does not and cannot use your personal wireless network. For security purposes (they are a security company and cannot control/guarantee your personal network), it uses it's own way to connect and that costs a little bit of money per month.

Answer:
the bridge is not sold seperately. A starter kit which includes the bridge, installation info, and lock would need to be purchased. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-203397814/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=schlage+nexia+starter+kit&storeId=10051 The product description will have a GRNX at the end for starter kits. For example FE599GRNX

Is Nexia required?

This question is from Aged Bronze Home Keypad Lever with Nexia Home Intelligence

I want to get a keypad lever for just my garage-to-mudroom door right now. I plan to expand and add locks to my front door in the future and then get nexia connection. However, I'd like to spread out the cost of getting all the additional locks and sensors. So my question is, can I use the Nexia-enabled lever as a keypad-only door without having to get the nexia monitoring? I know Schlage makes a non-wireless keypad doorknob, so I'm hoping I can use this the same and expand to nexia later.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by They tell you but... They do a good job of explaining; I did a bad job of understanding that this isn't wi-fi - it doesn't use your personal wireless network. It uses their own proprietary wireless Nexia system combined with Z-wave that costs $9 a month. Their system is way more secure and there are lots of other devices from other manufactures that can use it too. So, to get this to work correctly you've got some systems to implement and some configuring to do. Not a bad thing, just a bit more than expected. In other words, you can't mount this on the door, turn it on, find it on your personal network, use an app to control it. December 22, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good lock but its missing something We purchased the product thinking we could use our iPhone to change the codes remotely but that wasn't the case and the bridge needed is not on the web site. The lock itself is great but its disappointing we can't get the parts needed. Also most people looking to replace need some kind of combo since we had 2 holes in our door. November 7, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best home management... I have used this system for years now and it has provided me with peace of mind at our vacation home knowing how the weather looks through the added cameras and maintaining my heating system remotely. January 22, 2013
