Numbers on key pad do not light up; it is difficult to enter the code numbers in the dark since the numbers don't light up. I am not certain if the key pad is supposed to light up when the code numbers are pressed.

we have had our first set for about two years and it still looks brand new. No wear on the numbers. You can also change your code anytime you please if you are concerned about wear but I don't see that being necessary.

One thing to think about would be changing your code every year which would probably involve other buttons and make someone trying to analyze any previous wear moot. Read Less

Unfortunately if this is the only door into a space, like a garage/shed, and you have lost the key then once the battery completely goes there is no way for the owner to open the lock. At that point a locksmith should still be able to open door by figuring out what the key would have been. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best purchase ever! So much easier not to have to carry keys. Can have codes for different people and easy to change or delete. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple to use and works well I had to ask my building super to help install the lock because the instructions were not as clear as I hoped. But once installed it has been working perfectly for my 83 year old mother. She has a code that is easy to remember and no longer needs to be bothered with keys. We also like that the operations of the dead bolt - putting it in the lock and unlock position - is manual (not electronic). It saves on battery life and it feels right to know that you are unlocking or locking the door when you turn the knob. October 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by These Locks are perfect for people who forget there keys. It fit in the old spot with a little work, nothing too hard. Looks beautiful and is very functional. We used to fumble with our keys, especially in the dark. This has a light up key pad, so never hard to find or use. We are thinking about getting one for our office too. You can easily add codes for other people (like handy man) and remove it when they no longer need in. We are very happy with our purchase. August 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Door Lock We are in the hospitality business and love having this to change the code as frequent as we like. Guests have found it easy to use. No idea how well they hold up over time but impressed so far with it. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent electronic door lock! We bought this door lock for our house and it is an excellent high quality lock. My favorite thing about this electronic door lock is it's simplicity, it is super easy to install, it couldn't be easier to program with codes, it is very simple to use the keypad and I love how it will illuminate in the dark making it very easy to see at night, another feature that I like is that it doesn't automatically extend and retract it simply engages a clutch inside the deadbolt turn knob and lets you turn the lock manually and I have found the advantages to this system over the auto extend and retracting deadbolts is that if the door isn't quite lined up with the deadbolt you can adjust the door slightly as needed get the deadbolt extended where as with and auto extend electronic lock if the deadbolt isn't lined up quite right it will not engage and lock. We have 3 rental units and have decided to switch them all to electronic locks to avoid the hassle of having to change a keyed lock out for a different one each time a tenant moves out we can simply change the code saving up time and money in the long run. Currently we have only switched one of our rental units to an electronic deadbolt and we chose to use a Kwikset auto extending lock due to the fact it was only $70 and that was a mistake, it eats up batteries like crazy and has to be lined up perfectly to lock and also it is a challenge to program. Since we can get a Schlade lock for only $30 more at $100 and the batteries last exponentially longer and are much easier to program we have decided to go with Schlade locks on both our other rental units when we change them over. All in all I am very please with this unit, we have had it for 2 years now and have never had any problems with it. I am fully satisfied with this schlade electronic door lock and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get into a very nice electronic door lock for a decent price, if you look at other schlade electronic door locks you can get them for as low as $100! so do yourself a favor and don't settle for a cheaper electronic lock, spend the few extra bucks to get a schlade electronic lock!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive!! I replaced my existing Schlage deadbolt with this one so installation was a breeze. All you need is a Philips screw driver. Easy to follow directions. This is not a motorized deadbolt so the battery should last a lot longer also no motorized interior parts to break down. It has a backlit keypad. Came with a 9v Alkaline Battery. Setting the codes was easy to do. Stores up to 19 different codes. Came with 2 keys in case you forget your entry code or the battery dies. After you leave just push the top button and turn the dial towards the door jamb to lock the door. You will need your code or key to re-enter. February 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Goreat lock for the value. I bought this lock based on reviews on other company websites. Home Depot had the best price. Pros: Easy to install - took minutes Comes with spare keys in event the battery dies Easy to service Feels very well built Easy to program and use Cons: Requires you to turn the knob on the lock to lock and unlock the deadbolt. I am not sure if this is a con. I kind of like this feature, because it allows you to make sure the deadbolt engages. We went to a key less entry, because we were tired of our key locks jamming and just struggling to open them up. This is our first key less entry lock and its so much better. So easy to use. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FABULOUS LOCK SYSTEM I'm a 68 year old widow that lives on the 2nd floor. This lock saves we walking up & down the steps for family. They have their codes & safely enter. I also got the deadbolt handle for added security. I don't have to get out my key to open the door unless I chose to use the key to unlock. August 2, 2016
