Answer:
You will see when you install it as you have to put one in when you put it together it is a 9v battery that has a top that snaps on and a place in the case to put it. Running the wires from the battery is the hardest part of putting it together. I have done 5 of them and am very satisfied with their operation.

Answer:
Remove the two screws above and below the lever handle and the back comes off. {The lock remains screwed to the outside part.} The 9v battery clips to the bottom compartment. Replace, and screw back plate back on. Done. And the lock keeps its memory.

Answer:
No, the product has a thumb latch inside which when activated locks the door. You still can open the door from the inside but it remains locked from the outside. If you deactivate the thumb latch the door can be opened from both sides without entering a code.

It works very well on an interior door, same install required. Be sure the door thickness is correct, the backset can be adjusted on the lock.

Answer:
Hello docbones,
The lock is designed with exterior door use in mind. However like many door locks if the hole drilled into the door allows for it there is no reason it won't work on an interior door. I would advise you to check with local building code to make sure interior install is not prohibited. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 121 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Buy Quickly and easily installed in existing door; replacing a Schlage keyed knob, no further modification of the door was required. English instructions for installation and operation were clear and easy to follow. No more worries about forgotten key or lock-outs. Codes easily entered and deleted, allowing temporary access for neighbors or workmen wiyhout the need to furnish a key. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love this product! This was really easy to install and I'm not much of a handyman (woman). Super easy in fact. If I can install it then anyone can do it. I love the look and its so nice to not have to carry a key with me when I go out for walks with my dog. I have this on my interior garage door instead of the front door or back door since I prefer a duel key deadbolt lock on those doors. It works great and you can program a ton of different codes for different people. This is a great product! August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick and easy Quick and easy install. No extra holes to drill. For a residence this is unbeatable for the price. Decent instructions to program the lock. I like the exposed buttons, no wake up, or lights to wait for. Just press the code and turn the lever, your in! August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome product, very cool upgrade. So easy your mom could install it! Installed on an interior (bedroom) door, took less than 15 minutes. Honestly it was trickier to remove the original basic handle that came with the house than it was to install this product. It even has a feature where a simple threaded bolt holds the keypad side on while you finsih it up and install the indoor side (no, this little bolt does not attach to the door, just a plastic backplate--no worries). This required no drilling of holes at all, and if I did not have a power drill I could still have completed the install (it would just take longer). I would buy this again. I think if I had to I could talk my older mom through the install over the phone. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love this door handle Was easy to install and works great I like no keys August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by just what I was looking for Bought this lock to be used on an out building. Installed easily and was easy to program. Unsure how the key pad will stand up to the sun and elements but I have installed similar locks by this manufacture and they have stood up well (10 years and counting) July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works as expected Lock was easy to install and works great, I don't need to have my key with me each time I leave house. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great Works like it is supposed to, looks sleek, quick to install. Very happy I bought this, I think everyone would enjoy an electronic lock. Im a 25 yr old female and did not have problems June 14, 2016
