Numbers on key pad do not light up; it is difficult to enter the code numbers in the dark since the numbers don't light up. I am not certain if the key pad is supposed to light up when the code numbers are pressed.

we have had our first set for about two years and it still looks brand new. No wear on the numbers. You can also change your code anytime you please if you are concerned about wear but I don't see that being necessary.

I would not characterize it as so pronounced that someone can tell which buttons exactly are in use. But on mine it is the case that I can tell that one button in particular gets used.

The battery is accessed from the inside of the door. Remove the two screws and take off the back plate. The rectangle nine volt battery is easily accessible right there. The battery in my front door lock tends to last 2-3 years. The lock will blink red during use when the battery is getting low as a reminder to replace it.

Unfortunately if this is the only door into a space, like a garage/shed, and you have lost the key then once the battery completely goes there is no way for the owner to open the lock. At that point a locksmith should still be able to open door by figuring out what the key would have been. Read Less

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 200 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Keyless Very nice and easy installation abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz August 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Installed easily and works well as indicated in the product description The big difference from many keyless door locks is that you have to turn the knob after you have entered the combination. That's no big inconvenience but visitors might not be used to that. I figured it would probably help the battery to last longer. I liked that it does come with an emergency key to get in if the battery or electronics ever fail. You can lock and unlock it from the inside mechanically even if the battery has died. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love, love, love this!! Truly love this product!! We now have these on both our front door and back! So great not having to fumble for keys! Numbers light up for nighttime use. You can program multiple codes if desired. Looks beautiful as well! I definitely recommend this product! Best purchase ever! August 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Keypad lock Works like it says it does, simple install. Easy to use July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Schlage Camelot keyless wntry Works as expected. Looks nice. Not sure on difficulty to install as I had someone install for me. When the deadbolt has difficulty locking or unlocking, it's a sign the battery is needing to be replaced. Overall a great purchase. June 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Made life for a family of 4 SO much easier Some of the keypad locks have an automatic latch, but our front door isn't perfectly aligned and have seen a buddies not hit perfect,so the hand latch is perfect. Best part is being able to start the car and still go back in the house without a key. My wife and two daughters always LEAVE SOMETHING behind. Plus our oldest daughter can come home from school and get in. Has key back up, but now we don't keep the key someplace obvious and easily accessible. We just keep an extra stashed far from the house now in case the battery were to ever die. Gave me dad a code of his own that he could remember and one for our neighbor to let our dog out when we are gone on a short trip. That it lights up at night is so much easier than fumbling with a key and latch in the dark. May 24, 2016
