For choosing the correct lever- do you choose "right" if, when you are facing the inside of the door, the hinges are on the right and choose "left" if, when you are facing the inside of the door, the hinges are on the left?

Answer:
If you are facing the inside of the door its actually goingto be opposite of what the hinges are for the handing. The best way to determine the handing is from the outside of the home looking at the door. If the hinges are on the right, then it would be RH.

Answer:
I don't know why the pictures appear to be reversed, but right vs left is clearly defined in the picture at http://www.schlage.com/en/home/faq.html?id=128733 and when you order Schlage based on those pictures, you get the correct item.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice and adaptable to different previous cutouts. Good style, smooth operation, reasonably substantial, and designed to be adaptable and make replacement of an old handleset easy. Only time will tell how well the finish holds up, but I've no reason now to be skeptical. Be advised: Schlage's code "F90" (this item) is the active handleset with a working deadbolt and latch, intended for the opening and closing door of a pair. March 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very understated and elegant the front door to our home has the same handleset and it looks wonderful on the door to the casita. September 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lifetime Warranty is Critical We have a duplex and have gone through at least six of these and six of the locking handles. We had the smart key (or the Schlage equivalent) and that was a disaster. Even their regular version has problems. Of the 6 we have had through our homes only one is currently in use. Generally the latch fails; my wife had to liter lay bust it out with a hammer after unscrewing the knob. When I was at HD the lady at the return desk stated that the Schlage handle sets (not limited to this style) are constantly coming back. One or two were broken out of the box. I am going latch less as I search for a better lock. December 11, 2013
