Factory defect. Electronic lock kills batteries after a week. Already tried switching out five (5) different locks. The most one worked was two weeks.

If i lost my Key. Can i buy another and it will open the same lock? Or does it have to be the exact key that was with it

Asked by: Becca
Must be the exact key. if you have more than one of the same system, you can get a locksmith to make the key pattern the same for all your Schlage locks.

how many key code do i need for this touchscreen deadbolt with alarm

I have a lot of people break in without my permission.
Asked by: Steven
you can have many codes, I think somewhere north of 10-20. in addition, by default there are 4 digit codes which you can override when setting up the lock if you want to require a longer code. i think it will take up to 8 digits.

I use it on our second home so that if necessary I can let someone in to check systems. It also can be programmed to lock at certain times or re-lock whenever it has been unlocked for X minutes.

Physical installation was about the same as a regular deadbolt. Programming was simple. We have a qolsys iq panel as part of our security system, and it enrolled the lock as a z-wave device easily, which means the lock can be controlled and status reviewed via the iq panel in our house. Battery life hasn't been a problem so far, and after four weeks, we are still around 95% battery life. The bolting action and motor control seems solid. If i had a complaint, it would be that the knob used to lock the bolt from the inside feels a little loose. But it does the job so far. The touch pad is about the right balance, not overly responsive, but not hard to press. It is not capacitance-based, so you can enter your code even if you have winter gloves on. One-touch locking is a good feature. We paired this with a passage lever-style knob also from Schlage with the same aged bronze finish. We used a passage knob because we didn't want someone locking the knob from the inside and defeating the purpose of the keypad. You just need to make sure in your install that when the knob engages the door frame, the deadbolt moves freely. Some people install deadbolts such that you have to lean on the door one way or another before the deadbolt will slide, either due to poor installation or because they want to use the deadbolt as a way to press the door into the weatherstripping. But that type of install won't work well with this because it is motor controlled. I will update if things change.

Easy to install if your current deadbolt does not shoulder the tension of the door closing tightly. A little more difficult if you need to reset the doorknob latch to hold the tension, rather than the deadbolt. Works well on its own or with Alarm.com. Sometimes the signal will be behind reality if you lock and unlock manually, then immediately expect the Alarm.com app to lock/unlock automatically. It is also a lot louder than I expected, but not irritatingly so. Looks great and matches the former aged bronze lock set.

Really easy to install, and works great with a Wink hub (over z-wave) if you're into smart home automation. I've had one of these on our main door for about a year, and just installed a second one so that we don't need keys anywhere. They seem to be reliable, the batteries last a long time, the backlit keypad is a lifesaver in the dark, and it feels pretty well-built.

Although even my husband who was not so sure about it, now loves it. My biggest reason to install this system was when my kids come home without key they can get in. To lock the key was super easy too (just press Schlage button) , so they can easily do it now. We haven't use the alarm yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice update to deadbolt Looks great, not difficult to install. Enclosed fittings not all useful, had to use some of my own. The locking noise is unpleasant & loud until your senses dull to it. Checked various hd locations and had to order from non-home store to get lowest price, which is silly because the inventory was available at all locations. Happy with the purchase overall.

Was looking for something on the different side, and something that I could stop having to get keys cut every time my kids seem to lose the keys (happens much more often than you would imagine). The coloring matched up with my exterior very well, and looks great installed. Installation is as simple as any deadbolt lock (if pre-drilled). The lock is a bit on the "noisy" side when in operation. You will definitely hear when someone is using the lock from almost any location in my home. Not a big issue since the lock is only used at certain times. So far it has held up to the weather and use very well. No fingerprints EVER on the keypad which is very nice. Also programming/clearing access codes is simple and straight forward. The interior box is a little on the large side, but it color matches my door so it is not as noticable. If this was mounted on a white door, you will definitely notice the lock box inside which may be a deterrent for some home owners.
