Can I reverse the direction of the tip on the handle of the keyed side?

I bought an F51 V FLA 505 and since the door opens outward, the tip on the handle points up instead of down. Is there anyway to reverse this, or does Schlage sell the same lockset with the tip pointing in the other direction? If so, where can I buy it? Thanks.

I ran into the same problem, but found the Schlage customer service answer a bit confusing. Then, of course, I opened the directions that came with the lockset. On the back of the single page, you'll see some cryptic instructions how to do just what you want. Schlage includes a pin, when inserted into a hole at the base of each lever, will release the lever itself. For the lock side, you need to insert the key and turn it. Both levers will then come off, and you can remove the lockset (you need to tug on the key to remove it first). Insert the lockset on the other lever, re-install both, and you're all set! Read Less

From how you are describing your lock, sounds like it was installed incorrect the lever should actually be tip down. Please call 888-805-9837 if you need assistance or any more questions or concerns.

when locked, you can unlock from the outside by placing a screwdriver about 1/8th of an inch into the key way and turn it a quarter turn and it rotates the inside lock and the lever wii now open the door. HELP.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rebuttal "Found that every time we turn the door knob it unlocks. Thought I installed it incorrectly so I called Schlage. Turns out it was designed that way to prevent people from locking themselves out of the house." How many times have I panicked when I found out that I locked myself out of the house because I locked the door the night before and forgot to unlock it before I left, hence locking myself out. I like this idea and will now purchase the item because of this fact. I am going to get this to accompany the Schlage Camelot Keypad deadbolt BE 365, Cam 619. March 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't stay locked Bought this for our front door. Found that every time we turn the door knob it unlocks. Thought I installed it incorrectly so I called Schlage. Turns out it was designed that way to prevent people from locking themselves out of the house. I asked if there was a way t override this but they said there wan't. I find this annoying as every time I leave the house I will have to manually lock the door. May 27, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Schlage Bright Brass Lever Deadbolt G2 Security This provides G2 level security with G1 being the best. Installation was a snap on a prehing door. Put in deadbolt secure with two Phillips screws. Then attach lock side handle, then inside handle and tighten two rounded bolts. That's it, then install final plate. Nice smoth action. Inside handle will always open the door without turning thumb knob, you will need to lock once you come in. Best to always install a second thumb knob deadbolt G1 lock, two locks are better than one. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great locks for the price, had 2 for over 4 years now I have 2 of these. 1 on front, 1 on back. The one on the back was sticky as the other review on here suggest, but its nothing but metal burs from machining the locks. a little wd40 and a minute or 2 of working the lock vigorously usually cures this. The sticky lock has been om my back door for over 4 years now, and with kids, dogs, the garage out back its gets 80% of the traffic. The first day it was sticky & after wd40 and working its worked fault free since. Front door has never had a problem. Easy to install and the only maintenance required is to retighten the trim screws and a squirt of lube every year or so. February 25, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Left wide open This makes the second lockset that has failed to work for very long. I went to leave one day and closed the door but the door would not close because the plunger would not retract, so the door popped back open. The only way I could close my door was to turn the handle to get the plunger to retract and close. So I will be taking this lockset plus the one on my front door back to Home Depot and getting another lockset and not a Schlage. Buyer be ware, don't think that when you close your door that it will always work because one day when you think your lockset is never going to fail it will. You'll come back home and think someone broke into your home because your door will be standing wide open. April 3, 2010
