Is there a way to lock from the inside as well? I need to keep my toddler from opening the door and running outside.

I see there is a knob to lock/unlock access from the outside. But does this also control access from the inside? ie if the knob is in the lock position can I freely exit the house or do I need to unlock the knob first? I'm looking for one that I can lock and prevent my toddler from opening the door and going outside.

Answer:
The knob in lock position simply "kills" the outside lever so that it does not engage the bolt.
The inside lever is "live" regardless of the lock knob position and will always open the door.

Answer:
No, there is no way to do this, and that would be a huge safety issue in the event of a fire. BabiesRUs or equivalent probably has some plastic device to prevent toddlers from opening doors.

Answer:
No, the door will open from the inside whether the door is locked or unlocked. You could install a chain to prevent the door from opening above where your toddler can reach to prevent him from getting out the door. These are readily available at Home Depot

Unfortunately the the FE595 does not have that option. It has a emergency egress for builder codes.

Any reason this is not recommended for main entry doors?

The first bullet point under the description says: "For back, side or garage entries..." Seems to be making a point that it's not for front or main entrance. Or am I just reading too much into the statement?

Answer:
We have it on our main entry and it works and looks great. Any single lock/deadbolt represents a single point vulnerability though, so a second deadbolt would always give more piece-of-mind.

No, that is the purpose of the keypad, to unlock your door, without having to use a key. We have ours on the front door. Looks nice and very convenient.

Answer:
It is acceptable to use on any main entrance doors as long as it is an Exterior/Interior application. The interior portion of the keypad is not rated for exterior use and thus would void the warranty. Please call 800-847-1864 if you have any other questions or concerns.

Answer:
Hello Sherry,
As long as the gate has standard preparation like a residential door. However, we do not recommend using it on an exterior/exterior application and this will void the warranty. Sometimes the metal from the gate and the metal that the lock is made out of can have a chemical reaction causing rust, corrosion, tarnish. Consistent exposure to the weather may also affect the coating.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I was looking for Easy installation and works perfectly. Easy to operate. And, Lifetime warranty. How do you beat that!! August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Recent purchase from Home Depot Easy to install and operate. I love it. I will buy again when having a good deal August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly as expected. Average. Already had one on the front door and when I added a door out of the kitchen to the side of the house I installed one there for convenience. Quality is about average, but for my use it was adequate. July 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product I purchased item on sale so for the price this product was better than other comparable products. Easy to install. The only con is there is no back light on the key pad for a dark entry. Only time the pad light up is when you push the button. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this! Husband had it up and going in half hour or less! Really like it - Love the color - and it has been great - been using for several months - Been great to have - can give contractors the code and change it later! March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple Lacks the heft and feel of a quality lock (and the price), however, it works. Instructions good enough to permit quick and easy install. Love not needing a key or having to hide or provide a key for others who may need in house and the fact that you can use multiple codes and change as needed. Put the instructions some where for quick access as all changes will require the codes printed on them or you will never be able to update or change...just saying. December 29, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed with lack of Clear Details Just be VERY aware this unit will NOT work with all doors. There is a question & supplied answer area that does not clearly address the install limitations if you have doors like my two metal ones with factory pre-drilled door lock and dead bolt holes spaced about 3 3/4 inches on center. Unit won't mount blocked by the dead bolt assembly or if dead bolt removed this unit won't completely cover, you have half or more of either hole showing. Now I have a front door that was blank and I setup the lock / dead bolt spacing and it was fine for this one. I've contacted customer service for return instructions , my online purchase arrived without one bit of paperwork or documentation, just 3 lock assemblies in Schlage boxes inside November 14, 2015
