I found this knob hard to turn, and I don't even have arthritis. I just swapped it out for the Schlage lever, which took me 5 minutes and which I like much better. I don't recommend this for a front entry door to a home-the lever is better. As for security, everything I read seemed to point more to the door frame and other things beyond the knob that I couldn't control, so this seemed as good as I could get.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by UnluckyCSMStudent Only a slight hinderance
This lock was not very effective at stopping attempts at entry. It was easily carded and entered with no resistance. To be fair to the product it could have been the door frame but, it should not have been easy to enter. This product is not the best available because it succumbed to amateurs and a key card.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Daniel1978 ***Buyer Beware!*** Don't buy this until you know the facts!
OK, here is the thing, when I moved into my house 5 years ago I bought new door lock just like your supposed to. I like them, and they have held up fine over the years. Now, I have just added a new door and needed a door lock (like most people). I saw this at Home Depot and it said it could be re-keyed to my existing door without a locksmith. I thought "wonderful, I can save a little money and do this myself too".
After installing the door knob I began to install the new key system. Following all the directions that were in the packaging I discovered that the key I had just keyed to lock to wouldn't work. I figured I did something wrong and started over and could not get my old key to work. I was going to wait and just use the set of key that came with the lock until I discovered that that set no longer worked either! Then I thought that maybe I had a defective lock. It happens, something breaks in transport, no problem. The people at the return desk were very helpful and I just switched it out for the same thing. I began the install again, same problem.
I called the Schlage customer service number provided and spoke to a rep. He said "Yeah, the package and instruction don't really tell you that you have to have another "Blue Key" (the key that you use to reset the lock) made from your existing key in order to key the lock". WHAT? That would kinda be something you need to know if your going to do this. OK, fine, I can go back to Home Depot and get a "Blue Key" made from my house key, no problem. Then he tell me "Also, because you have used a standard key in the lock and not a "Blue Key" you have destroyed the tumblers in the lock and you'll also have to return the lock again and get a new one". WHAT!
Now I know that the good people at Home Depot will exchange this, but I am tired of wasting my time and Home Depot's for a defect in the Schlage packaging and instruction. By the way, I reread both the package and the instruction repeatedly just to be sure that I didn't miss this key piece of information, I didn't. The instruction clearly state that to re-key the lock, simply insert the "Blue Key" turn a quarter turn to the left, remove the "Blue Key" and insert the desired key, and turn to the right and your finished.
So I guess that I will make one more trip to the Home Depot (I am now on my third trip) and get another door lock. I do plan to talk to the return desk about putting up a warning or something so someone else doesn't have all the trouble I have had. I hope this helps someone, I know it is a bit long.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by PJCC Simple low rated keyed entry
This is what it is, a keyed knob that replaces the standard brass knobs that contractors use.
I dubbed it the sibling doorknob. It was easy to install, even for an amateur. Basic and simple to unlock so it isn't for high
security. It sets limits on what you want to share by having a lock on your door. According to the security rating it will not really keep anyone out of a room.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by FixerUpper Great Knob, fresh look
This design was not in my local home depot, but should be. These are the cleanest looking schlage knobs out there and were a easy quick install to freshen up the look of our entire house, we purchased a full set, including the front door entry, to do our entire house inside and out for sub 500$
