Answer:
yes. I usually apply over concrete backer. It gives my a more ridged surface to tile on. You need to mist the backer before applying kerdi so the backer does not dryout the thinset to much.

Answer:
Yes it can be used over greenboard, so long as the Kerdi is properly installed with an unmodified thinset and the greenboard is securely fastened to the studs. Cement board is a good choice, but would require more labor. If you're only using tile then the weight should not be an issue going over the Kerdi on greenboard.

Answer:
Yes it can but most contractors would use ditra, which still requires kerdi band on the seams to make the floor waterproof.

Answer:
IMHO it can be used in a residential steam shower. However if the steam shower is going to be getting commercial use then I would use the thicker 20mm kerdi. Puttting tile on a ceiling is always challenging and the bigger the tile the bigger the challenge. Adhesion or suction from the wet thinset will not be able to hold tile any bigger than 6 x 6 maybe 12 x 12 with some temporary clamping. We us clamps Read More

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The best Costs a lot but works well. Easy to install but a visit to the schluter-kerdi web site for instructions August 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Keeping it dry This product is a must for keeping your ares dry. It also gives you a smooth base to work on. May 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy, easy install, use as directed and a sure bet for waterproofing. When using this product use the directions and you can't fail. Kerdi will work for you as a complete waterproofing system behind your tiles. Do not worry if you get thin set on the top of the Kerdi. It will have more thinset on it when putting up your tiles. Have some fun ! June 9, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by would not recommend Ditra Would not recommend this product. Extremely difficult to install over cement board. It simply would not stick to it. I have returned the used stuff back to Home Depot they took it back no questions asked and they told me about people having hard time installing it over cement/concrete. February 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Tile a Shower Without This I have been using Kerdi membrane for years. (remodeling apartment bathrooms). I would not tile a shower without using this great product! February 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I don't really recommend this product Not easy to install you have to wait till next day to start installing tiles. Difficult to level tiles. I don't recommend this product October 1, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by $$$$$$$ Just a very expensive over $100 for some sheet plastic would love other alternatives. September 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kerdi shower and tub The Kerdi fabric is easy to install as long as you remember to mix the mortar fairly thin, and use unmodified, and then smooth it out carefully. Don't try to install it around the corners, but use the thinner joint tape instead. I've done four showers for myself and friends and the stuff works great. It is well worth the money - if you don't think so, try repairing the problems with water in your walls! Plus no breathing problems like you can run into with some of the roll on products.
