Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be cut to a different size (32"x57") that is all the space we have.

Asked by: OldChet
Yes, but you have to cut equal amounts off of both ends.

Drain Location

I have a 36" by 44" space where my shower is going. I need to have the drain on the left, not in the center. Can this be cut correctly to allow me to place the drain where I want or must it go in the center? Thank you,
Asked by: gschneck
Seems like you'd want to start with the 48"x48" kit and then trim it down to 36x44 instead of the 32x60. But the drain would still be in the center. To maintain a uniform slope in each slope plane you need to trim equal amounts from opposing sides (if that makes sense). That will result in a center drain, unless you're using the kit that has the off center drain - which is only available in 32x60 I think - which wouldn't accommodate 36x44.

Can this pan be extended?

My shower is 63" is there anyway to add to the pan?
Asked by: Saffron
Not really. I've read that you can span small gaps (perhaps up to 0.25") with thinset around the edges of the pan. I would consider cutting kerdi board to length and width, with an angled (mitered) top edge that matches the slope that is built into the pan, and trimming out the pan with that. I believe kerdi board comes in 0.5" thickness and could be ripped into strips. You'd need 3 (1.5") of them on each end, but you could stack them. And again, you'd want to retain the slope angle along the top edge. And thinset them in. Just an idea...

Kerdi-Shower 32 in. x 60 in. Shower Kit in PVC with Stainless Steel Drain Grate is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shower kit Awesome product! I will never build a mud pan again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from second time used Kerdi shower system is a real value. The foam base goes in without a hitch and makes tiling a snap. You have to work a bit to get the fabric on the wall but well worth the security of no leaks. I love all the extras that they added since the last install. It even comes with a CD!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I am so glad I purchased this. Building a shower is tough enough, but insuring the watertightness and durability of it is paramount. Enter Kerdi. HD had the best price on this kit. It was "easy" to install--still a lot of work but the finished results are amazing. The directions can be a little daunting, but the included DVD made installation a snap. Still a lot of work! And plenty of YouTube videos that add to your knowledge. I can easily recommend the Kerdi kit and HD on-line ordering!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install and pretty good instructions. It went in pretty easy, I'm in the process of leak testing for 24hrs. and so far all is good. I installed a 32X60 shower kit and when I installed it I ran short of membrane. Call Schluter and they said the kit only covers 2 walls not 3??? So I had to order a 3X16ft. piece to finish the shower???? Also they should tell you the mortar needs to be mixed wet so it smooth's from under the membrane.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Video The system is worth the price. The kit is perfect if you want to build a custom sized unit. The directions that come with the kit are not thorough. You have to go their web site and look at the videos. I received very little instructions on the corner bench, I had difficulties installing the water proofing. I went to the web site and found out that there is a special water proofing kit that is made for the corner seat. That would have been nice to know when ordering my shower kit. It is important to dampen the walls prior to applying the mortar.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from look fabulous No problems fitting it in to my bathroom however I didn't give a five star based on delivery as when it was delivered it was dumped in the corner next to my garbage can and it could have easily been stolen if my neighbors hadn't alerted me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product We purchased this product after doing research online. We were looking to remodel our shower. This product is the best by far. We have incurred no leaks, and it seems pretty sturdy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product The kit is complete but it is very labor intensive. This is the second time I have installed one and you need to view the demo dvd that comes along with it if this is your first attempt. This is not easy to install but its worth it
