Answer:
Just need to purchase a pig tail that matches your existing dryer receptacle. Just make sure the circuit meets or exceeds the amperage you are trying to draw while charging.
ie: if you are planning to draw 30 AMPS and the dryer has a 30 AMP breaker, the breaker will get hot and trip off, you may also be stressing the wiring to its max.

Answer:
Yes, simple. Find the male plug you need for the dryer and either purchase a pre-made pigtail from and online source or get a piece of 8# wire and the plug. There are only three wires which need to be connected therefore not difficult.

Answer:
Yes it can be done. I did it with mine and had an electrician make that adjustment when he did the installation. Just be sure the plug for the 220 outlet is rated correctly. I wanted the plug on the unit so I can move it to a new location if needed in the future. Just be sure to get an electrician!

Yes, as long as your male plug for the 220VAC Dryer outlet is rated at 20 amps or higher it should be fine.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Schneider Electric does not recommend using a plug for the EVlink station. An unused dryer outlet may not be wired with the proper size conductors to support the needs of EV charging

This is a Level 2 charger just like the ones you use at various charging stations so it will work for a Volt. The Level 1 and Level 2 have the same connections.

Previous units I read about were offered by companies who install them for you. So, I was of the impression that it took some special knowledge or skill to install one.

The unit itself is easy to install. I think the real question should be "can you pull 240 Volt line from your circuit box".

If you are comfortable with 220 volt circuits, can handle 8-gauge wire and installing circuit breakers into your service, it's easy. Main problem may be running 6- or 8-gauge wire between your service and your garage.
I installed 2 of these myself and am still alive...

I have installed 2 of these units now and with no problems. If you are familiar with 220VAC appliances such as 220V electric dryers, or 220V ovens this would be about the same. We have owned ours for over a year with no service issues.

EVlink 30 Amp Generation 2.5 - Enhanced Model Indoor Electric Vehicle Charging Station is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 201.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Value! Excellent EV Charger! Stop overpaying! I own a 2013 Nissan Leaf. I was getting by using the "opportunity charger" that came with the vehicle, but decided I wanted to upgrade to a 240v/30amp charger. I looked everywhere for the best value. The Schneider EVlink was found to be the best. Everyone else wanted $800-$1000 for a home charger. The Schneider EVlink was by far the least expensive and very highly rated. $599, free shipping and an easy install. (1 hour installation by a certified electrician) This charger simply works perfectly! No extra and unnecessary bells and whistles... simple to use and performs flawlessly! I highly recommend this charger!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is easy to handle. I bought a nissan leaf and i had a problem that the car charger too long from a regular outlet. Sometimes it would not be fully charged by morning. With this charger, I come home from work and the car charges for 2-4 hours (Depends on how much energy was wasted.) It works quietly and looks good/modern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Plug it in to the Car and it takes care of the rest This product works as advertised. It was easy to install with very simple and easy to follow the directions provided. In all it took about two hours for me and my handy man helper to run the wire, install the breaker and test the unit. The cord and plug storage when not charging work nicely with the plug being snapped into the holder preventing any foreign material from contaminating the plug. Since installing the unit it has worked flawlessly. It charges my Ford C-Max Energi from totally discharged to fully charged in a little over 2 hours. Partial charges take much less time to be back up to full battery charge thus making multiple trips easy and almost always on battery power alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 gen. EVlink Charging Station Just had an electrician install this charger and so far so good. It was probably easy enough to install myself but due to Consumers Energy required a permit for reimbursement of the charger and installation. The EVlink was purchased, not only because of price, but because of the features offered. My electric vehicle, Mitsubishi MiEV, seems to be working very well with this charger. One of the nicest things about this charger is the intuitive lighting sequences on the face of the unit. Instantly you can tell if it's charging, how long it's been charging, or if it's in the delay mode by looking at the segmented flashing lights. I've read where some chargers are noisy. Not this one, only a very small hum is heard when it's in use. Overall, I'd say I'm very happy with the unit and would give it a two thumbs up. Now I'm going to start saving money because I'm not buying any gas!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent price performance It's confusing out there and I shopped at most retailer's websites. (Took me a while to learn about this) Seems this is THE pick for the money. Most units say they work and need 40A circuit breakers but they only supply 16A. None of them supply 40A btw including this one! (confusing) The 16A has a smaller cord but may niot charge as quickly for some EVs. This unit seems like the best value for full 30A charging. Be aware that it requires the addition of 220V/40A circuit breaker (cheap at Home Depot) but has a beefy cord that stays cool. Some cars only take limited rates but this looks like the best for all cars at the price. I pulled the trigger on this one and happy with the product so far. Looks cool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Charger for Leaf We bought this product since it was much cheaper than the Aeronvironment charger. Actually, the charger was similarly priced, but the installation of the Schneider was much cheaper. It works very well. We never use the delayed charging feature of this product since we use the timer feature of the car. It charges the car from almost empty to full in less than 4 hour (usually it "fills it up" in two hours or less). I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow!! I needed this for my company clothing warehouse. (Live in a condo and they're dragging their feet on EV plugs) I wanted something simple installed ahead of taking delivery on our new Ford Transit. So Cool!! Can't wait!! I didn't know the brand but my ex told me it's the same as Squared. I had my electrician install it and he said it's a super high quality brand sothat felt great. So now waiting impatiently to replace the old beeter and save some money! Hopefully! :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value for a Level 2 charger Originally on backorder when I ordered, but shipped in a week and took another week to arrive. Customer service was awesome when I inquired about length of delay I might expect on a backordered item. Fairly easy install for me since I placed a subpanel in the garage during a home remodel dedicated for this service - took about 30 minutes. Our state electrical inspector (whom I had worked extensively with on prior permitted, self-wires) did not even require an inspection for the addition of this. My only concern was the plastic cover. While sleek looking, has a very flimsy "feel" to it when detached. It felt as if it might crack if handled too roughly. This was mostly a concern when snapping the knockouts scored in the housing. One improvement I would make would be to lower the line lugs away from the top of the unit as it is a tight fit to get heavy gauge wire routed within the clearance between the top entrance and the lugs
