Customer Questions & Answers

I am not sure if I have bugs but I have lots of dandalions the worse on my block. What does s ummerguard do to help get rid of these weeds

Asked by: Anonymous
Depends what type of grass you have. Summergaurd is great on St. Augustine. Really greens it up and no cinch worms. St. Augustine is a broad leaf grass. So be careful what you use. Read the label on Scotts fertilizer. Use one that says good for as all grass.

Can I use this when temp. is over 95 degrees for more than 7 days with limited watering?

I live in California and as everyone knows we are in a drought. The high nitrogen number on this product has me worried because I can only water 3 times a week. Will this product kill my grass along with the bugs?
Asked by: jly
It says not to use the product if the lawn is burned up. You need to give the lawn a good watering after applying to activate the product

Can I apply summerguard in hot weather?

Asked by: Ropestretcher
For best results apply Turf Builder with SummerGuard when temperatures are 60-85 degrees. If temperatures exceed 85 be sure to water the product in immediately after the application. If you have any additional questions please call 877-220-3089 for assistance.

5,000 sq. ft. Turfbuilder with Summerguard Fertilizer is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 116.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lawn looks so much better Last year my lawn turned brown by July and stayed that way all summer. I watered but couldn't keep up. Who would think it would be an issue in Seattle?! A couple of weeks ago I saw the lawn was starting to turn again so I applied the summer guard, going it would help. I've watered a few times and we had a free days of rain-- but two weeks later our lawn is nearly uniformly green again. Amazing!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Burnt my lawn I live in a rather drought free area. I applied the summer guard according to the label instructions and also watered my lawn daily for two weeks just to insure the lawn would not be burned by the summer guard. we have also had frequent summer downpours to give additional watering also. After two weeks, my lawn showed no improvement yet, it was burned. It is really hard to burn Bermuda grass, I do not understand what lawn treatment would do this if it is safe for children and pets also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked as advertised I had a grub problem a few years back, I used this product last year and haven't had any grub problems since. It also kept my grass geen during the summer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from setting is not correct I have been using Scotts' product for 13 years. always used one bag to cover about 13,000 sq. ft. spreading it with Scotts Edge guard #13 years old#. This past August I did the same and followed the setting recommended on the Summer guard bag. Half way through, the bag was finished and I had to buy another bag. I thought this year product might be different. Two weeks later my lawn almost entirely is yellow. I don't know if the setting is for new spreaders and mine is too old or the setting recommended on the bag is wrong. I still believe in Scotts products but I won't buy Summer Guard again.
