I'm going to overseed my whole lawn this fall, I'm worried about the "plus 2 weed control" will affect the grass seed to germinate. Please advise.

Answer:
No, we do not recommend using Scotts Turf Builder Winteguard with Plus 2 Weed Control on newly seeded lawns. If you apply the product first, do not seed for 4 weeks. If you seed first, do not apply the product until the new grass has been mowed at least 4 times. You can use Scotts Turf Builder Winterguard or a better option is Scotts Turf Builder Starter Food For New Grass.

We have planted new grass Spring 2013 and now have lots and lots of foxtail. We would like to get rid of the foxtail as quickly as possible. We don't know what to use and when to apply it for the best results.

Answer:
Turfbuilder Winterguard with Plus 2 Weed Control will not control grassy weeds like foxtail. On most cool season grass types foxtail can be prevented by applying Turfbuilder with Halts or Halts Crabgrass preventer in Early Spring before foxtail seeds begin to germinate.

15,000 sq. ft. Turfbuilder Winterguard Fertilizer with Plus 2 Weed Control is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 117.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prepare your lawn for Winter! winter guard with weed & feed gets your lawn looking great and healthy while preparing it for the winter season. I prefer Scoots fertilizers as the product(NPK) is all in 1. Your lawn gets even distribution and even growth. Great product! Take care of your lawn with this product.

There is a Sticking Agent that must be activated so that the weed killer will stay attached while it does its job. Grass is usually wet in the mornings this time of year, so that isn't a problem. The greening is not as intense as in the Spring or Summer, but it shouldn't be! The last thing you want is grass actively growing when First Frost arrives! What it does do besides kill weeds, is grow the roots over the winter and strengthen the Underground System. Then, in the spring, you are ready to kick in the good stuff (Scotts) and enjoy your healthy and green lawn! Oh yeah, I've tried the no name brands many times over the years. They may even have the same numbers (Nitrogen, Potash, And Phosphate), but something is always amiss,a like the sticking agent, or whatever. If you are going to do the work, and can't take corrective steps, for 6-8 weeks afterward, it's better to pay the money and work with a Quality Product! You get what you pay for and 35 years of home ownership later, Scotts is by far the best!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Winter is over My Lawn is Excellent I liked the early results in December. But when the spring came the lawn looks like a painting its outrageously thick and green like a Crayola crayon throughout. Minimum weeds and coincidently no ants, yet my neighbors both called in exterminators (results from using summerguard twice July and August). The results from using Scotts products, correctly, are well worth the effort and investment. Apply and sit back and watch the grass grow!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looking forward to fewer springtime weeds I used Winterguard fertilizer with Plus 2 Weed control a year ago and had fewer weeds and thicker turf in the spring. I applied it again and expect just as good results in early March when I will put out a spring feeding with weed control.
