Answer:
cut a slit in the top front of bag just below handle and you can re-fill with any product. I prefer the Expect Weed and Feed from Walmart and I just pour into used bag and spread away...just save the bag and it can be reused for other brands and cheaper brands of product.

That would be very helpful, since I was not able to find rye seed in the snap bags. I cut the top of the weed & feed bag and poured my grass seed into the snap bag in order to use the spreader for even application.

The bags are not meant to be refilled, but if you cut it open enough to fill I would, and will this next application. I would think you would want to leave the handles in the bag on it so it can attach to the spreader at the top.

You could cut the top the bag and fill it this way, but I'm not sure if other fertilizer or insect products could be used with the machine. This spreader requires pelleted products.

Answer:
No, the Snap spreader system does not have refillable bags. Part of the beauty of the Snap system is that each product bag has the proper application setting built into the container. Unfortunately, that means that we only know the setting for the product originally in the bag, so it has to be discarded.
If you want an adjustable spreader that is refillable, we suggest the EdgeGuard Mini.

Thank you for your question. The bags are not refillable, nor would you really want to. If you use half a bag, just flip the lever on the spreader, closing the bottom of the bag, remove it, and store it till next time! If your question is based on "cost," I have not found the Snap bags to be significantly more expensive than comparable quality fertilizer... and any small price difference is more than mitigated by the safety, convenience, and ease of use. Local retailers often have loyalty coupons or sales, and I have actually purchased the Snap bags for less - on a pound-for-pound basis - than other fertilizers. Read Less

Remember that fertilizers will burn your grass when its hot and the sun is glaring down on it, this very important during drought times. Follow the guidelines on the product or visit Home Depot's Garden Center online to see the times for applying fertilizers, weed and seed etc.

Answer:
Granular crabgrass killers (pre-emergents) can only be applied early season prior to crabgrass emerging. This time frame would be dependent on when average ground temperatures hit 60 degrees in your area. After that time frame you would need to use a liquid crabgrass killer, and this might take several applications to control.

It's completely automatic. There is nothing to set. I believe the rate it spreads is part of the way the individual product (fertilizer, seed, etc.) pack is designed. The spreader itself has no adjustments.

There are no spreader settings for the Snap spreader system. Each Snap pac is preset to apply the required amount of product. Because, it is a rotary spreader you will still need to make sure each pass is 4-5 feet apart, to ensure that you do not put down too much product in the same area. Well it says 4,000 sq. ft. That is 50 ft. x 80 ft. It depends a little on how fast you push the spreader, slower the more feed that will cover the area and the smaller the area that you will be able to cover.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use I was using a professional service for my lawn, but wasn't getting the results I wanted. What was appealing about the Snap, is the ease of use. The only disadvantage is The Home Depot doesn't adequately keep enough fertilizer in stock. I frequently have to go to a competitor to get the product I need to use with the Snap Spreader August 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I want! It is easy. Everyone's busy. I wanted something quick and easy. This is both. Quick and easy setup. Quick and easy to use. But most important, quick and easy to clean up and put away. Great product! June 9, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bullet Proof... I have used various spreaders and this works the best..bag are sealed, no pouring...just snap it in..there is more value in using a different spreader that you pour but having sealed bags around my boys gives me some piece of my mind that they will not knock them over and make a mess. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice item but appeared to be used When I went to pick it up, it was not in a box and appeared to be used. I asked for a different one and was told that they were all that way. There was a small amount of rust on the handle and was very dirty. They apparently had them all sitting outside and I got one of their many Floor Models. Great item though May 22, 2014
