Early Spring here in Sacramento valley and we have a number of dandelions and 2 other weeds I have no idea of their name on the front lawn... applied this over the lawn per directions about two weeks ago and the lawn looks fine. It does seem to be growing faster, probably a combination of warmer weather and the fertilizer. I'd expect it to take a bit longer to notice a significant weed reduction. Though did purchase the 10,000 sq ft bag at Walmart sale. Scott's runs a special 10,000 sq ft bag for same price as 5000sq ft bag, so was only $19.99 for twice the amount. Noticed some comments about people claiming their lawns were dying. There's quite an extensive list of of grasses listed on the bag that it recommends not applying this product to. Also lists temporary colorization problems for others. I'd recommend being aware of your variety of grass prior to application. You could inquire at a local area nursery to see if they might be able to identify your grass variety prior to applying any fertilizer of weed control. Another good source would be a college or university in your area... they often have master gardeners that are available to provide assistance like this.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by vislo21 it works, but dont expect a miracle product.
The bottom line is the product does what it is suppose to do if directions are followed. However do not expect your yard to be perfect after one application of fertilizer and weed killer. Yards are hard, expensive work. That is why so many hire outside companies to do the work. You have to be in it for the long haul to do it yourself. I used weed and feed once and have noticed improvement, but I still have weeds coming up. It only kills weeds that are grown, not future weeds. You have to feed your lawn to choke out the weeds through out the seasons. Persistance and knowledge wins when it comes to lawns. Read all of the bag and all other info you can find.

My neighbor suggested I use this and only this. I was a little surprised at the cost. It was almost $50/bag. Much more than other similar products. I followed the directions and my lawn has never been more green than it is right now. All of the neighbors have commented on my yard and noticed how few weeds I have now. It kicked dandelions butt! Clover is proving tough to get rid of in some places but that is the only weed I've noticed. Make sure you put it down when lawn is wet as the directions say. I lucked out and it rained the night before. I will definitely use again.

I was paying big bucks for a weed company to come out but I still had weeds. So after I got tired of calling them back to redo a treatment, I switched to Scotts and did the job myself. I apply right before a good rainfall and my lawn looks brand new about two days later. It is amazing. Now I save money and simply spend 20 minutes to walk around my yard and apply and feel proud later of the results. Loyal customer for life.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Eric Scotts kills EVERYTHING including grass!
I used this (and the seed) for my lawn and it did nothing but kill everything. My concern was filling the patches that I had to make my lawn whole again. I used the product as directed and even bought the spreader. As you can see in the pics, you can see everywhere I went with this. The neighbors grass on left, right and across the street all have nice grass. Even the rest of my yard I did NOT use this product on is great and green. ONLY where I used this is where the grass is dead. Never again will I use this company or any sister companies they own. TERRIBLE!
The only plus is that it didn't spread to the rest of my yard or the neighbor's yard...

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by alienux Terrible compared to the older Turf Builder Plus 2
I used the Scott's Turf Builder Plus 2 product for years. It was terrific, and always kept the weeds in my lawn under control, and usually within a week, my lawn was nice and green with no more ugly dandelions.
Then it became impossible to find Scott's Turf Builder Plus 2 for sale anywhere. The only thing close is this newer Weed & Feed, and it is terrible.
I've used this product for 2 years now, and it kills maybe 20% of the dandelions in my yard within a week, and maybe another 10% or so after that. It's completely useless and I feel like I've wasted my money each time I've used it.
I know how to properly apply it, and as I said, I never had these problems with the Turf Builder Plus 2 product. This newer replacement just doesn't do that job that the other product did, and I'm completely done using Scott's products since they've proven to be a waste of money for 2 years in a row.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bmall3425 Made the grass greener, but only killed 10% of weeds
I've used this product for years, and as the years go by, the quality of this product degrades. As directed, I applied this weed and feed with sub-optimal results. It fed the grass very well, but also seemed to feed the weeds. Through my eyeball guesstimate, it killed about 10% of the weeds in my yard. I might try a different brand this summer/fall.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by goforit Use only when you get serious about your lawn.
I used to get my lawn in good shape then switch to a cheaper brand with hopes to keep it maintained. Do NOT do this. I found out, the hard way, that you actually save money and a consistently better looking lawn by sticking with Scotts all the way. If you want a lawn that makes the neighbors jealous, stick with Scotts.
