CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 225 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Got 2 days of black mulch - HORRIBLE Product Like the rest have said, product is horrible. Purchased on the 16th and put it in ALL the beds the same day. Got some rain last night and now its spotted mulch, not black and not yet brown. Looks really bad now! Should have stuck with the competitor like I normally do, but this time Scott's was cheaper. Thought I was getting a deal but instead I'm going to have to pay the extra $$ for the other guys product that works better. 12 month guarantee?? More like 12 hours...geesh! Had to email Scott's about how insane this is. April 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dissapointed I have been a loyal Scotts user for years, following the recommended cycle religiously. When I saw this product at Home Depot it was a no brainer. I would pay more to to buy the Scotts product because it is superior. I purchased 15 bags of the Black Mulch with "10% more color" and 12 Month guarantee. I put the 15 bags out yesterday as we expected some rain last night. The product looked great and made the yard look perfect. I went out this morning after the rain last night and the black had all washed out of the mulch and it is now brown. I am extremely disappointed not to mention upset that I spent the time and effort to put 15 bags in my gardens and now I have to replace it all. Not happy!!! March 1, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by More like brown wood chips Closer to a dark brown, light gray. Not the deep black you find with most mulch. And the color is good for about a week. Also, they really should label it wood chips. Mulch in my opinion is shredded wood that sticks together easily when laid down. This however is mostly wood chips/bark and not as "fluffy" as real mulch. Would not buy again. Price was good but last time I will be using this stuff. I recommend you look at the "chips" before buying a bunch of bags. That is the mistake I made and did not feels like hauling 42 bags back to HD so I will live with it this season. But avoid if you want dark black, real mulch. This is really just dark brown wood chips with some mulch mixed in. April 13, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Satisfied Whatsoever I bought the Scott's Brand thinking it would be a good product. Got all the bags down and it looked beautiful. Two days later it rained and about 50% of the color was washed away. Now I have to replace it as it looks terrible. Scott's and/or Home Depot should not only reimburse me for the purchase, but also pay me for my time in having to replace it. I'm very disappointed. I usually read reviews before purchasing most products, but didn't do it as there was a guarantee on the bag. Judging all of the reviews here, I wish I had before I bought. It's ironic that the bags are now on sale 5 for $10. April 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Low Quality The 20 bags of black mulch I purchased were not as black as last year. There are pieces of grey and brown that must have missed the black dye job. There are large chunks of branches and random wood that I prefer to not have in my landscape. I should have read closer before being lured in by a low price, but this is not the quality I was hoping for. April 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This mulch looks great and keeps the soil underneath moist! Scotts mulch is the only mulch I buy. It's color lasts much longer than the other brands that I've tried. It keeps the soil moist so the shrubs and flowers can stay healthy and continually look amazing. Always get compliments on how neat the property looks... April 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Black? not really I am very disappointed with Scotts Earthgro black mulch. I first purchased about 10-12 bags and it was ok. I needed some more so I went back for 6 bags a few days later and it was not black. Either they did not put enough dye but the color was more like brown and also big (about 8 to 10 inches) pieces not even dyed. Poor dye job. It took pictures because it was clear that it was not done properly. Very disappointed with Scotts. May 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by color fast for me I read all the reviews and expected the black to wash away. Well at one month it is still about 90+% black. The black is a striking background for the plants and colored rocks. The only drawback is when leaves fall on it they show a lot. leaf blowers blow the bark as well. Pic is 1 month after. Dirty Camera lens caused lens flair next to sidewalk. All bark is the same darker shade! April 28, 2015
