Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by jzpdx Another poor quality Scott's product
The semi-pneumatic plastic wheels make the spreader much more repeatable and uniform in spreading than the hard plastic wheels on the regular product but the gate opening is prone to sticking and the operating mechanism for the gate is the same flimsy plastic lever that has failed on my last two spreaders. It is basically the same as the "green" product except made of black plastic with the semi-pneumatic wheels.
The only real benefit of the Scott's spreaders is the fact that a setting for them is on most all brands of lawn products. They are not the quality products Scott's used to make.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PreEmerge2015 Excellent Spreader
Excellent spreader gives good results. Feature to block the right edge works well around flower beds etc. but would be better if you could select right or left edge. Inflatable tires are better than solid plastic but are hard plastic themselves, only inflate a little. These would be better as inflatable rubber tires but unit does work well and grip well on hilly pine straw covered yard. Spreads product very easily and evenly.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bucksnort Somewhat disappointed
Calibration is way way off. It dispenses way too much fertilizer. Spreader setting on the Turf Builder bag was 3.5. I went through about 1/3 of a bag on about 1,000 sq. ft. of lawn. I finally had it turned down to less than 2 in order to complete the remaining 4,000 sq. ft. of lawn with the rest of the bag (12,000 sq. ft. bag from Costco). There should have been a calibration tool included with the spreader like there was on my 20 year old Scotts drop spreader.
So far nothing has broken or fallen off but it's only less than a year old, time will tell. I do like the wide swath that it dispenses and the edge guard. Now that I've got the setting dialed in I guess I'll keep using it but it still "aint right".

Even on the lowest setting product dumped out so fast that we wasted an entire bag of fertilizer. Worthless - don't waste your money. Taking it back tomorrow...

I bought lower cost Scotts spreaders in the past and they didn't work very well - wheel's skipping over bumps, hopper jams, piles of fertilizer getting dumped on the lawn.
This one was a breeze to assemble - just flip up the handle, tighten, and go!
I loaded up 40lbs of fertilizer at a time an it handled it without a problem. The heavy rubber wheels provided great traction.
I'm 6'9" so that handles were a tad short for me but for you regular folks I'm sure they'll be plenty high enough.
I'm pretty satisfied with how it handled.
I almost forget, it even comes with a transparent plastic cover for the hopper in case it's windy or rainy!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MrBunny I love this item!
This is a fantastic spreader! I had the opportunity to try it at work first and within the first 5 minutes I was hooked, shortly after using it, I went online and bought one for myself.... Definitely worth it. I used 3 bags of salt on my driveway and walkway before this purchase, I cut that cost immensely! Highly recommended!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed11501 Don't buy! Broke before first use
It broke before I was able to spread anything. The "PRO" model has mostly plastic parts. In my case the plastic connector to the plastic spreader wheel broke off. So when I push the really nice inflated tires the spreader wheel will not turn and nothing gets spread only dropped. I read prior reviews that said it was poor product but bought since I trusted Home Depot. My mistake. This product is not sturdy and broke easily with plastic part. Calling this Pro is not correct. No pro would ever use model that has parts prone to brake from expected use. Not sure how anyone could write a positive review. The company should pull this product from its shelves. Do not buy. I am returning today. Not sure what to buy based on similar choices. All seem to have weak plastic parts and get poor reviews.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MikefromUxbridge Used just once but so far, so good
Purchased and used last weekend - lawn about 10,000 ft2. The broadcast range is fine and the range of settings was excellent. My first experience was spreading pelletized lime. I'll be top seeding this weekend so it'll be interesting to see how the finer settings work for grass seed. The EdgeGuard setting will be great for dropping weed killer later on - it allows you to shut off the spreader on one side. The control connections work well but seem a little on the flimsy side. Again, time will tell how they hold up!
