Wow. I used to think the advanced mulch would look like chunks of rubber, but not Scotts Naturescapes. Scotts Naturescapes Advanced Mulch is an identical twin to the old-fashioned forest mulch. You cannot tell the difference between the two, even from touching it. It's an awesome mulch. This one is a really pretty medium-dark brown, called deep forest brown and I love the richness in the color. It reminds me of a beautiful wood stain. The big difference between the old-fashioned mulch and the new Scotts Naturescapes Advanced Mulch is the colorguard technology keeps the color vibrant much longer, which means it won't turn gray or ashy looking.

I use Scott's Advanced Color Guard Brown Mulch and tried the Scott's Naturescapes Brown Mulch to see if there was/is a difference. I do not notice much of a difference in coloring. I did not use gloves yet my hands came clean with a washing of soap and water. The color did not fade into my hands which I like. I used it around my one bird feeding station and around my arch, allso by my Gardenia bush.

Great color and quality of mulch/much 'particles' . This color brown looks and blends easily and looks completely natural. Color does not fade and actually smells good too!

We purchased 16 bags on a Sunday and found out we needed more. We went to the same store on Wednesday and purchased 20 more bags of Nature Scape. Two days after we placed the new mulch on the ground we got a small storm and the color completely washed out. The first bags we purchased kept their color. I have since removed all the mulch from the yard and purchased another brand. Do not buy.

Out of the bag I thought the product looked great. It had a deep rich color and looked great in our yard. However, our problem was with how long that look lasted. We put down the mulch in the spring and by mid-summer the color was washed out and it looked like the old mulch we had down from the year before... The product was more expensive than the store brands so we expected it to last a little longer... I am not sure we will pay the extra next year to do it over again or just use a big box brand that lasts just as long!
