Seed mixture??

What mixture of seed is this? Sun & shade usually contains Kentucky Blue, red fescue & usually a sort of rye for quick germination. I don't see any mention of the mixture?

Customer Reviews

PatchMaster 4.75 lb. Sun and Shade Grass Seed Mix is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 450.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Patchmaster was easy to use This product is easy to spread and stays put. I used it on a slight slope where cable folks had dug a 6x6 area. I applied top soil to smooth out the cable co digging. In a nearby area I had dethatched a larger area. In that area I seeded, applied Starter Fert then covered with light layer of topsoil. Three weeks later, the area with the topsoil has slightly more grass growth but now 4 wks later the two areas are about equal. The Patchmaster is much lighter and easier to spread - in 1 step - than the 3 steps using top soil. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work at all Sorry to say I received this product in the mail for free as a product tester. Followed instructions to a 'T' and two week later NOT ONE BLADE OF GRASS SPROUTED. After a lot of drought damage here in Wisconsin I used this product to try and fix some of the most damaged spots. But right next to this I also used a lot of cheap seeds in sort of a seed-over application. Well 2 weeks later and the cheap seeded areas are ready for a first mowing while the Scotts Patchmaster didn't sprout one blade of grass. The worst part is I lost two weeks of the best grass starting time you can get here in Wisconsin, and I had to crawl all over the lawn to do it over using another product. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Read the reviews -- does not work. Do not waste your time. I bought two bags of this product and followed the instructions EXACTLY, including laying down a new layer of topsoil before applying the Patchmaster. Spread evenly to the correct depth and watered twice daily. On top of that, conditions in my area have been IDEAL for seed germination over the past several weeks. I've gotten nothing more than sparse, thin germination. What's worse is that the window for grass seed germination has now passed. UGH! Wish I would have just gone with regular grass seed. If you read the other reviews, you will notice that most of the reviews from 2016 are one-star. Something must have been defective in this year's batch. I chatted with Scotts support and am mailing in my receipt for a refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Most disappointing Scotts product I ever puchased Bought to fill bad patches from very dry summer. Followed all instructions and after 3 weeks of constant watering, all that was left was recycled paper products on my lawn. Tried again mixing with Scotts topsoil mix with the same result. Finally went and bought actual seed and got the desired results. The Patch product was a total waste of money. Would have returned it. but was so sure it was going to work, I trashed the receipt. I work with soccer fields all summer and have done entire fields, so it is not like I am not used to working with lawn products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Patchmaster Following the directions on the package I prepared the bare spots in my lawn prior to applying the Patchmaster. I didn't really like the appearance of the lawn with the Patchmaster patches because the mulch seems to be made of chopped up newspaper which is a gray color. I watered the treated spots twice a day to keep the paper mulch and seeds moist. After 8 days a few sprouts emerged and I was optimistic that more and more sprouts would appear and the mulch would disappear. Unfortunately after 21 days the bare spots are still covered with the gray paper mulch and only a few new blades of grass are growing out of the mulch patches. After 21 days my lawn still has many bare spots but now the bare spots are covered with gray mulch. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Simply just applied like the directions said and watered regular. Excellent result occurred, more than pleased ! We are a big fan and look forward to patching more spots with this product. Plan on keeping this product on hand for quick touch ups. We really enjoy our good looking lawn. Thanks Scotts for another outstanding product !! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works...sometimes I used this product in various parts of my yard to fill in bare spots. Used absolutely as directed, in prime grass-growing Fall temps, with adequate watering. After 3 weeks, it grew some sprouts sporadically in some areas, didn't grow at all in others. In one large spot (6 x 6 ft) it grew a little here and there, but left about 75% bare. Would like to file for a refund. Had to remove all the soggy newspaper shreds, re-prep the area, and have applied Scotts EZ-seed instead. Hopefully that can do better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from woks fairly well tried this Scotts Patch but did not get the results I expected, now with defense to Scotts,I have a big Spruce tree right next to this bare area,so with a little homework,I have come up with why this product did not work fully. The tree in question,is pulling most of the nutrients from the surrounding area thus the bare spot area is getting short changed on the nutrients and the seed/fertilizer compound from the Scotts product,it was a wonder why question why this did not work and after talking to a tree expert this all made sense, the tree is just sucking everything around it to keep growing. So with this explanation, this product does work, but it wont help much if you are trying to patch up next to a tree that has roots traveling everywhere.
