CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 224 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No issues here This grew very well, took about seven to ten days to start sprouting. One thing I will say is the top soil you use definitely matters. I was filling in an 80sqft section on one side of my front walk. I had been doing some work in the back and used half of a bag of Miracle Grow garden top soil which was left over, and then some cheap stuff I had planned to use to fill in some other areas out back. The spots I used the Miracle Grow top soil did great, came in lush and full. The spots I didn't use it, didn't. Blades here and there but not looking good. I knew I was going to have an issue pretty early on, because the cheap top soil would become dry and nearly rock hard while the Miracle Grow seemed to retain moisture better and would never end up like concrete. Pretty sure it's going to be tough for baby sprouts to get any roots into that stuff. So yeah, I would recommend testing in a small area with good top soil of your choice and you won't have any issues. Had I only used the cheap stuff I would have probably been giving a bad review, not realizing I all but made it impossible for anything to grow. March 9, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 3rd time is a charm This is the third time I am trying EZ Seed on a remote shady area in our generally thick lush lawn. The previous 2 times throughout this growing season, I have had limited success in this sparse area and moderate success in small bare spots or last winter's snow mold spots in the Spring. Generally I have more confidence in Scott's Patchmaster products that I have used for over 10 years, and have yet to gain confidence in EZ Seed. With the consistent rain we have had the last 4 days and more predicted I am hoping EZ seed performs this time. I raked in Scott's Soil for seeding, starter fertilizer and so looking for sprigs any day now. October 2, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by EZ Grass Seed Third time I have tried Scott's EZ grass seed in the past few years. NEVER worked for me. First two times I used the then product with a greenish colored coating. This past season I bought the new mud colored product at the urging of the local Home Depot salesperson. This product does NOT work in the San Francisco lawns ! I put it out in late Sept this year and in SF we had unseasonably warm temps both in Sept and Oct. And I watered regularly. No luck. Take my word for it. I have never took Scott's up on their money back guarantee but this time I plan to as I paid over $50 for this worthless product. Scott's should do a test market in San Francisco or put a disclaimer on the package that the seed will NOT grow here ! Disappointed to say the least December 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Finally growing grass! This product is very simple to use. You must water!! And that's one of the best features. It tells you when to water! I have been trying to grow grass in my small fenced back yard for 3 years. I used the weed and feed in the late spring, and was impressed. So I decided to give the E Z SEED a try. I have grass growing in Georgia clay! October 19, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Tried 3 times - never worked Sorry, but I got nothing out of this product. I followed the instructions exactly, and nothing ever came of it, even after multiple tries. I figured because this product is so expensive, I must have done something wrong. I only wish I would have saved the receipts so that I could have used the money-back guarantee. September 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not work I bought the big 20lb bag, spread it in various spots on my lawn, and it never grew! I followed the instructions as directed and of course watered it regularly. What a waste, I really wish that it worked. October 5, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Couldn't get to grow I really can't give a good review because i could not get it to grow. I more or less wasted $60.00 on something that was guaranteed to grow. I couldn't get my money back because I mis-placed the receipt. I really like Scott products but I just can't give this product a good review. I am not sure if I just got a bad bag, but I was hoping for a beautiful front lawn and then it never produced. Now I may have to try it again when I can afford another 40 lb bag. Sorry Scotts. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality seed that really grows anywhere! Applied the seed on September 28 to the side of a sloped hill with sandy poor soil. The seed stayed on the hill and didn't wash away. By October 4 seedlings were popping up! Great product would highly recommend!! October 4, 2014
